We are looking for a Meter/Electronic Technician who will be responsible for cleaning, testing, and diagnosing meter malfunctions in all types of meters. The Meter/Electronic Technician is knowledgeable of Radio Frequency (RF) technology used in Automated Metering Infrastructure (AMI) systems along with all the equipment used for an RF type system and other duties as assigned.
Clean, test, repair, and calibrate kilowatt-hour and demand meters, both 1ø and 3ø on a regularly scheduled basis.
Installs meters in meter bases. Ensures meter bases are wired correctly. Inspects meters for correct readings. Reads large power meters and others as requested.
Responsible for diagnosing the cause of electrical or mechanical malfunction or failure of operational AMI equipment and performing preventive and corrective maintenance.
Must be knowledgeable in AMI system database, electronic circuitry, computer hardware and PC-based programs for reading meters and the programming of electronic controls and meters.
Maintain meter record file in accordance with P.U.C. rules and regulations, indicating all test data on meter records and inputting information into computer files.
Assists Line Crews or Substation Technician on special metering installations and testing.
Two years in meter testing, small electronics repair and/or electric equipment repair preferred. Computer knowledge desirable.
Good written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, staking sheets, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.
The pay range for this position is between $27.68 and $42.58 per hour.
