AECI’s Springfield Headquarters is seeking candidates for an Associate Resource Planning Engineer! This is targeted as a hybrid position within our Resource Planning & Quantitative Analytics teams. These teams focus on the following: economic studies; analysis of the operation of utility generation systems and the interaction with the wholesale electric utility market; portfolio modeling; both short-term and long-term financial forecasting; term trading/hedging support, and analysis of contracts in wholesale power, natural gas, coal, rail, and renewables. These departments are responsible for developing and applying techniques in production cost modeling, key modeling input uncertainty simulations, financial mathematics, and statistical pricing models that support commercial functions to optimize AECI’s power generators, contracts, and positions with the goal of enhancing margins and mitigating operational/financial risks.
At the Associate level, this position will work closely with more experienced staff to support high quality data analytics to achieve departmental goals.
What are we looking for?
Bachelor’s Degree in a quantitative field such as mathematics, engineering, economics, or finance
Proven track record in the field of data analysis with 2+ years’ experience with advanced Excel spreadsheets
Meticulous attention to detail and a willingness to take guidance from experienced staff
Experience manipulating and analyzing large datasets as an end user is a plus
Interest and aptitude for end user automation (VBA, SQL, etc.)
Ability to manage multiple projects from multiple requesters
Willingness to quickly learn and apply current processes and practices
Willingness and ability to take broad research topics with limited direction and report findings back to staff
