Primary Duties, Role and Responsibilities, included but not limited to:
The CFO provides financial data and analyses creating informed and responsible decision-making in the organization. This position is also responsible for the accuracy, integrity, and quality of Grady Electric Membership Cooperation official annual financial statements. To serve as member of the Cooperative’s senior management team and perform the duties necessary too effectively and efficiently direct and oversee the finance and accounting activities of the Cooperative.
Manage and provide leadership to accounting and oversee payroll process.
Plan, organize, direct, coordinate, train, and control work activities of team members.
Plan, develop, organize, implement, direct and evaluate the organization's fiscal function and evaluate and advise on the impact of long-range planning
Provide oversight, technical financial advice and knowledge to others within the financial discipline.
Maintain loan fund records and prepare loan fund requisitions
Ensure goals, objectives, and work plans align with and fully support the Cooperative strategic goals.
Develop operating procedures and utilize equipment and technology that will improve productivity, customer service, safety, and employee morale.
Develop and maintain primary relationships with Financial Institutions to enable the Cooperative to procure the necessary funding for growth and expansion.
Develop cash requirements and debt portfolio strategy consistent with the risk tolerance set by the Board of Directors, ensuring adequate short-term cash and maximize investment of available excess cash.
Develop a reliable cash flow projection process and reporting mechanism that includes minimum cash threshold to meet operating needs.
Prepare, file, or review corporate tax returns, overseeing audits or strategies to minimize tax liabilities and maximize tax savings opportunities.
Establish and maintain efficient accounting systems providing complete and accurate records of the Cooperative’s assets, liabilities, and financial transactions in compliance with generally accepted accounting principles and RUS accounting standards.
Monitor and analyze the effectiveness and legal compliance of the Cooperative’s capital credit management, and Operation Roundup policies and procedures.
Oversee and conduct special cost studies and financial analysis as requested by departments of the Cooperative.
Oversee the annual audit and aid external auditors.
Process or Approve all bank wire transfers.
Develop individuals by providing professional and personal growth opportunities.
Must be proficient in the areas of expense analysis, accounts payable, payroll, property records and long-term debt acquisition.
Must have general knowledge of overall operations of an electric utility.
Lead the effort in the planning and preparation of the annual budget, regularly monitoring and working closely with management staff in taking timely action to ensure that budgets and financial plans stay within approved levels.
Prepare long range financial forecasts and recommendations, maintain an excellent knowledge of the electric utility industry, the economy, and other trends and forecasts to ensure proactive steps are taken to optimize developing conditions.
Interact with the Board of Directors regarding financial matters as required.
Qualifications and Education Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance. Master’s degree in Finance, Accounting or Business Administration, Certified Public Accountant preferred.
10 years of progressively responsible financial management experience with an electric utility.
Minimum of 5 years in a leadership, managerial position with responsibility for directing the work of others.
Requires the mental capability to perform and exhibit senior management leadership functions.
Must have excellent oral and written communication skills.
Requires direct knowledge, from a senior management perspective, of all aspects of the member relations, member services, and operations of an electric utility.
Working Conditions and Physical Requirements
Sedentary work. Involves sitting most of the time.
Walking, standing, and exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally.
Required to be available and accessible to work irregular hours during emergency situations.
Requires travel both inside and outside the cooperative’s service territory.
Work may require occasional weekend and/or evening work.
Requires repetitive motion with hands and fingers such as dialing and keyboarding.
Required to have close visual acuity to prepare and analyze data and figures; transcribe; read and edit extensively; and view a computer terminal.
Must be able to communicate clearly and accurately and possess good hearing.
