We are currently seeking applicants for Associate Corporate Counsel in the Legal department of our Executive division located in Springfield, MO. This position will provide legal counsel and representation for Associated in business affairs affecting the Cooperative. This position will protect Associated’s legal rights, further the business goals of the Cooperative, provide analysis, coordination, guidance and support in federal regulatory/policy matters, and ensure operations are carried out in accordance with current laws and regulations.
Possess a Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school and 0-3 years’ legal experience.
Member in good standing of a state bar or applying to a state bar in 2022; Missouri bar membership preferred.
Excellent legal research and writing skills.
Experience or interest in compliance and regulatory support for matters subject to the jurisdiction of applicable federal regulatory agencies, such as the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) and Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).
Experience or interest in labor and employment law, including counseling on labor relations, immigration, benefits, wage and hour issues, Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA), Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), Title VII, Missouri Human Rights Act (MHRA), employer pandemic response, and employment litigation matters.
Ability to identify issues and solutions related to challenges facing the organization and its industry.
Experience or interest in the organization’s core legal practice areas, such as electric utilities, energy law, environmental law, commercial transactions, real estate law, or employment law.
