Responsible for the design, coordination, overcurrent protection, voltage regulation, load balancing, planning, and troubleshooting of the Cooperative’s electric power distribution system. This position supports and/or maintains AMI, SCADA, GIS, EA and OMS systems as well as deployment, programming and maintenance scheduling of utility system devices such as reclosers, capacitor banks, regulators, sectionalizing switches and various substation equipment.
Requirements
Conducts system planning studies including load projections and modeling of the distribution system with Engineering Analysis software.
Develops Construction Work Plan, Long Range Plan, Sectionalizing Study, Contingencies Study, etc.
Provide engineering knowledge for codified standards and for work plan projects to ensure reliable distribution system design for new construction modifications to existing facilities.
Monitor, operate, and maintain the SCADA system during regular and emergency events.
Develop and carry out switching orders for line crews.
Maintaining and updating the engineering model.
Maintain Outage Management System and assists Operations Department as needed in restoration of outages and day-to-day support.
Specifies transformers, meters, regulators, and line protection devices.
Perform review and studies distributed generation.
Able to work in office and the field during normal business hours as well as on-call work and response to emergency situations

EDUCATION: Four (4) year Engineering Degree or equivalent with a Bachelor of Science in engineering. Registration as a Professional Engineer in the state of New York preferred. Must complete at least one (1) professional development activity annually. EXPERIENCE: Ten (10) years of progressively responsible utility engineering experience including related experience in electric power and basic maintenance procedures, supervisory responsibility and project management. Experience should include substation and transmission/distribution design, project management, RUS design, contractual requirements, SCADA, AMI, distributed automation, and relaying. Proficiency with NISC, AutoCAD, ERSI, ASPEN, PLS-CADD, RSCAD, PSCAD and MilSoft preferred.
