Qualifications for GIS Technician
Summary Statement:
Under general supervision, performs general drafting including laying out and composing information into workable form from
preliminary plans; designing from field notes and sketches; designing and drawing plans of electrical telecommunications structures
and electronic equipment; laying out electronic schematics and block diagrams. Performs related tasks as required.
Essential Functions:
Lays out and draws electrical schematics, block diagrams, component, and circuit layouts to assist the
electrical/telecommunications engineers and technicians in complying with revisions and periodic maintenance on electrical
and data network.
Communicates orally with Co-op employees and other contracted or Co-op affiliated personnel to obtain and disseminate
information and resolve discrepancies related to work assignment.
Records and updates information concerning electrical plant infrastructure, remote site communication buildings and
associated equipment, update cable and plant drawings, documents infrastructure locations (height and direction), and
identifies structures, hardware and equipment used in communication and electrical infrastructure.
Designs, draws and updates electrical and communication maps.
o Maintains and updates files and documentation of project plans, schematics, data network, and electrical plant.
. Interprets and prepares layouts on field notes and drawings to develop workable forms and mediums for preliminary planning
of projects
o Distributes updated written materials (e.g., documentation, books, manuals, staking sheets, etc.) to Co-op staff.
o Conducts surveys to establish plot plans.
o Designs, draws, and submits architectural plans and proposals, to obtain approval, to develop or alter, new or existing sites,
or buildings in order to accommodate additional electrical or communication networks.
o Designs and draws system flow charts
o Interprets blueprints and schematics to determine material needs and establish a schedule for accomplishing tasks
o Produces blueprints and plans.
o Provides technical assistance to other personnel within the Co-op as needed
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities Required: Ability to:
Use CAD programs and ArcMap 10.8
provide drafting assistance and information.
o Complete forms.
o Produce accurate and clean drawings.
o Read and interpret schematics and blueprints.
o Perform detailed work with a high degree of accuracy
o Produce architectural floor plans and elevations.
