Primary job duties include testing transformers and oil-filled circuit breakers, and routine maintenance on substation equipment.  Must have basic knowledge of electricity and mechanics, an understanding of electrical and mechanical blueprints, and be able to use motorized tools.  Travel and overnight stays may be required.  Must be available for emergency call-out anytime and reside within a 35 mile driving distance of their assigned work location at the time of hire, or within 12 months of becoming an employee.

Minimum 3 years of related experience and a minimum of 620 hours (equates to 6 months) of industrial electricity or electronics education from a state approved industrial vocational school or a recognized accredited technical school; or, a combination of experience and education in industrial electricity or electronics education from a state-approved industrial vocational school or a recognized, accredited technical school, equal to 3 years. Must be able to read and perform basic troubleshooting using electrical prints and schematics. This ability must be demonstrated through actual job performance or through simulated tasks consistent with the labor agreement or by obtaining the State of Kentucky Master’s Electrician license within 6 months of accepting the job. In addition, an employee must already have or receive a CDL license within 6 months of accepting the job as Technician.
