To procure and maintain materials needed by Coastal Electric Cooperative for efficient operation of company’s electrical infrastructure. To champion a consistent work order process between engineering, operations, and accounting such that records accurately reflect completed work. To track materials to ensure inventory records are accurate.
Duties:
Directs and oversees warehouse personnel. Implements procedures within the team that accurately tracks material inventory. Responsible for materials team performance.
Develops practices and procedures to maximize efficiency of purchasing expenditures.
Continually investigates innovative warehouse and distribution methods that can be applied to operational efficiency gains and provide cost savings through the expanded use of technology.
Responsible for the planning, preparation and submission of formal bid packages and requests for quotations. Develops contracts, blanket purchase orders, and alliances with vendors to assure availability of material at the lowest cost. Evaluate bids and quotations, award orders and originate all necessary records and documents concerning procurement.
Procure materials required for construction, maintenance, and outage restoration of the coop’s power lines. Maintain inventory of materials, ensuring proper inventory for day to day operations as well as large projects.
Create purchase orders in UPN system for all materials needed. Verify received materials and invoice corresponds with purchase order.
Monitors the receiving, storage, handling and issuing of materials at the warehouses. Arrange for tests of supplies when necessary to ensure that the Cooperative is getting maximum value from its purchases.
Review work orders, making necessary corrections. Release work orders for accounting.
Create new cost units and material part numbers in UPN system and update Project Tracker.
Coordinate between Engineering, Operations, and Accounting to verify correct record keeping. Maintain rapport with key personnel such that all interests in the process are addressed.
Develops procedures for physical inventory on an annual basis to account for the cooperative’s assets, and oversees the annual inventory process. Arranges intermittent inventory checks to evaluate the inventory process throughout the year. Responsible for inventory accuracy.
Work with the engineering and operations personnel in developing product specifications and standards, ensuring compliance with RUS List of Materials.
Develop and maintain policies and procedures that facilitate a functional and efficient work order process between the various departments and personnel. Tracks and communicates material inventory status.
All other job-related duties as assigned by management
High school diploma or state equivalency certification required. Ability to read, analyze and interpret common technical journals, safety materials, and other work related material. A minimum of ten (10) years related experience and/or training is required. Management of warehouse materials and employees is preferred. Must have knowledge of materials required in overhead and underground electrical and fiber construction and substations. Must be able to lift and move up to seventy-five (75) pounds. Must have and maintain a valid Georgia driver’s license, with a clean driving record, as use of company vehicles may be required in this job. Must possess computer skills and be able to operate a fax and copy machine. Must have or be able to obtain forklift certification.
