Job Description
Summary
This position has overall responsibility for NRECA operations in the Lincoln, NE office, including all administration related to Office Services, NRECA's claims operation for the Group Benefit and Disability Plans including Flexible Spending Accounts, Health Reimbursement Accounts, and the Retirement Plan Operations function.
Responsible for the implementation and ongoing management of operational techniques, best practices, strategies and guidelines to assure accuracy and timeliness of work and to facilitate and support service excellence in accordance with NRECA standards.
Establishes strategic direction and long range goals by maintaining awareness of industry trends, service delivery system changes, legal and compliance issues, anti-fraud programs, communications needs, and systems impacts.
Establishes and manages business standards, controls and performance metrics to ensure that the Lincoln operation center is operating at the highest level of accuracy and efficiency at all times. Promotes teamwork and encourages individuals to contribute innovative new ideas.
Interacts extensively with various departments across NRECA to execute strategies developed by the executive leadership in order to maximize value to the membership. Ensures proper resource allocation within each department and deploying resources based on organizational objectives.

Essential Job Responsibilities:

Actively participates in the professional development of staff. Encourages staff to think "out of the box", and to take risks and try new ideas. Models the NRECA principles of service excellence and promotes that attitude among staff. Takes immediate action on unpleasant tasks and deals with problems directly and discreetly.

Uses Business Process Excellence (BPE) methodologies to drive a culture of continuous improvement and to ensure efficiencies are maximized and risks are mitigated.

Develops and implements short and long-term objectives to align the operational departments with business partners to meet the needs of cooperative members, establishes direction and long-range goals by maintaining awareness of industry trends, marketing needs, medical delivery system changes, and regulatory updates.

Sets the vision for and works cooperatively with the IT leadership to ensure that the activities of IT staff in Lincoln are used in the most efficient and effective manner to enable the Lincoln staff to meet their operational and service objectives.

Evaluates, selects, and manages relationships with vendor firms engaged to support efficient and effective business operations. Meets regularly with vendors to review performance and identify areas of improvement.

Develops collaborative and trusting working relationships with the NRECA Board of Directors, NRECA senior management, and other key staff in determining how the Lincoln operations can maximize its support for the NRECA membership and further improve customer service. Regularly reports to NRECA senior management and the I&FS Committee on the performance of the Lincoln operation.
Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in a related field or an equivalent combination of education, training, with additional experience.

A minimum of ten years of extensive management experience and ten years of experience in the employee benefits or insurance industry.

Experience working with a team, leading, developing and retaining staff.

Skill in developing strong relationships with members and cooperatives to ensure delivery of service excellence.

Proven ability to assume independent responsibility for project management.

Excellent analytical abilities in analyzing business processes/risks and implementing process and control improvements.

Proven ability to communicate, both verbally and in writing, with a diverse membership, employees and/or vendors in a clear and precise manner.

Proven ability to lead, perform, and be held accountable in a fast-paced, high-volume, customer service driven environment.
