This position operates and maintains the gas turbine and reciprocating engine generating units, all electrical, mechanical, and electronic equipment. The incumbent operates and maintains additional plant systems at the Pioneer Generation Station (PGS). This position may also be assigned to work and support the Culbertson Generation Station located near Culbertson, MT and the Lonesome Creek Station near Watford City, ND. These stations operate to meet electric power demands. This position is identified as a Critical Infrastructure Protection (CIP) related position which may allow physical and/or logical access to Bulk Electric System (BES) cyber related assets or systems.
Qualifications:
To perform effectively in this position, the incumbent must have completed a two-year degree in electrical, instrument and controls, mechanical, or operating program and three years’ experience in electrical, controls, mechanical, or operating industrial, combustion turbine, or coal-based power plant experience or reciprocating engine power generation; or a high school diploma or equivalent (GED or HSED) and five years’ experience in electrical, controls, mechanical, or operating industrial, combustion turbine, or coal-based power plant experience or reciprocating engine power generation. A valid driver’s license is required.
Typical Physical/Mental/Environmental Demands:
This position requires continuous sitting, standing, walking, climbing, and reaching; frequent bending, kneeling, and using keyboard/computer; and occasional crawling, pushing, pulling, and lifting up to 50 pounds. This position requires finger dexterity, good color vision and good hearing. Working conditions may frequently include chemicals and noise; and occasionally extreme heat, cold, dirt, and dust. The incumbent will also be required to work occasionally at heights up to 100 feet, which requires the use of safety equipment. This position must be respirator qualified and able to operate a motor vehicle. The incumbent must also remain fit for duty and must remain in compliance with ANSI Z359 Fall Protection Code Standards. (Equipment weight ranges between 18-28 lbs. ANSI Standards, effective 03/2016, weight maximum with equipment is 310lbs).
