The Member Service Representative’s primary objectives will be to:
Serve as the front line of communication for member and general public interactions.
Provide prompt and courteous service via telephone, email and in-person.
Process daily payments and bank deposits efficiently and accurately and ensure accurate accounting of transactions.
Primary Responsibilities
Communicate with members in person, by phone, or email regarding billing inquiries, past due accounts, usage, outages, and other topics as necessary.
Process member payments received by mail, phone, or in person.
Process bank deposits daily and balance a cash drawer.
Initiate and process change of service requests for connects, disconnects, and transfers.
Review and determine appropriate action of delinquent accounts.
Maintain accurate and complete member records, including, but not limited to, contact tracking and notes.
Scan member documents.
Provide support to the Accounting, Communications, and Operations departments as needed.
Skills/Qualifications
Understanding of customer management software (NISC preferred)
Knowledgeable in Microsoft Office Suite
Excellent written and oral communication
Ability to handle difficult communication in a positive and effective manner
High attention to detail
Friendly and professional attitude
Bilingual is a plus
Education & Experience
Associates degree or higher in Business or Office Administration or related degree preferred
At least 2 years experience in customer service
Previous experience in cash handling and collections preferred
Knowledge of electric cooperatives is a plus
