Direct the general accounting and plant accounting functions to maintain accurate financial records. Responsible for administering proficient application of RUS accounting guidelines and for insuring proper applications of generally accepted accounting principles. Position will develop and recommend policy changes as related to accounting policies and procedures, business functions and internal controls.
Duties and Responsibilities
Oversee and/or prepare monthly financial reports, including balance sheet, income statement, and statement of cash flows for monthly board meetings
Review federal and state payroll regulatory reports
Review sales tax and gross receipt reports
Stay abreast of new and changing regulatory filing requirements
Work closely with various departments, management and executive team to share reports, analysis findings, and provide tactical information to support and emphasize continual improvement
Provide analysis of financial trends, variances to benchmarks and key process indicators
Maintain compliance with US GAAP and RUS financial reporting requirements
Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulatory requirements by studying existing and new legislation; anticipating future legislation; enforcing adherence to requirements; advising management on needed actions
Prepare reports required by regulatory agencies and submit various tax filings
Prepare and maintain schedules and documents to support external audits
Actively participate in the annual audit process by coordinating and communicating with external auditors as needed
Prepare and maintain budget schedules and reports
Work with department managers/directors to develop annual department budgets
Assist with the development of various forecasts, including but not limited to; ten-year financial forecast, payroll projections and construction budgets
Prepare special reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends
Provide status of financial condition by collecting, interpreting, and reporting financial data
Participate in ad hoc projects and prepare reports as needed
Perform other duties as required by management

Learn and comply with Cooperative’s safety rules and procedures
Qualifications
A. in Business Administration – Accounting is required
Certified Public Accountant or Certified Management Accountant designation preferred
Knowledge of RUS uniform system of accounts, RUS specifications, general business and accounting procedures
Five (5) years of bookkeeping or accounting experience preferred
Possess an analytical and mathematical mindset with great problem-solving abilities
Ability to accomplish a variety of projects simultaneously within established deadlines
Knowledge and application of generally accepted accounting principles
Knowledge of Microsoft Office; proficient in Microsoft Excel
Ability to become familiar with accounting software and programs
Possess a valid Texas driver’s license
Insurable with the Cooperative’s auto insurance carrier
Must be or become certified in first aid and cardiopulmonary resuscitation
Possess excellent oral and written communication skills in the English language
Possess excellent interpersonal skills including the ability to maintain a harmonious working relationship with all Cooperative employees

Office environment
Subject to irregular hours
Subject to travel, including multiple over-night stays

Required to pass a physical examination when employed
