The Electric Engineering Technician 3 performs electric engineering calculations and distribution line designs for residential, commercial and system maintenance projects. Manages field surveying of projects for securing of easements and permits. Actively communicates with internal and external project stakeholders to formulate project designs.
Primary Position Responsibilities
Meets and communicates with all project stakeholders to formulate overhead and underground project designs in accordance with NESC and CoServ standards.
Acquires field measurements and marks equipment locations.
Opens energized equipment to verify connections, collect name plate information and confirm available space for additional conduits and conductors.
Generates construction plans and detailed drawings using Designer/Work Management systems and AutoCAD software.
Prepares construction cost estimates by applying appropriate credits according to CoServ’s Tariff for Electric Service.
Secures applicable permits.
Works with Engineering Records Administrator to secure easements.
Maintains documentation of project status and issues in CoServ’s Work Management system.
Performs routine safety inspection of company assigned vehicle and ensures maintenance is performed as required.
Complies with established CoServ safety and operating rules, procedures and guidelines including reporting unsafe practices to a supervisor.
Complies with established CoServ Information Security Handbook, policies, procedures, and guidelines including reporting suspected information security incidents to Tech Support.
Secondary Position Responsibilities
Trains and mentors Electric Engineering Technicians.
Attends conferences and workshops as directed.
Represents Engineering Services in meetings and on committees as directed.
Performs other duties and activities as directed.

Education and Certifications Required
High School Diploma or G.E.D equivalency.
Staking Technician 1, 2 and 3 or equivalent.
Education and Certifications Preferred
Associates or Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Engineering or related field

Knowledge of AutoCAD, Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook with an ability to learn additional software packages.
Must have a thorough understanding of NESC, NEC and OSHA requirements.
Must have a thorough knowledge of city, county, state, federal permitting requirements.
Skills and Abilities Preferred

General knowledge of CoServ’s service area and distribution system.

Physical Requirements
Works both in the office and outdoors.
Ability to lift a minimum of 25 pounds.
Drives company vehicle as needed.
Operates office equipment such as a computer, telephone, fax machine, copier, etc.
Ability to sit for long periods of time.
Works in potentially hazardous conditions caused by pets and wildlife in or near the work site.
Works in areas with possible exposure to poison oak, poison ivy, and insect stings.
