Jump River Electric Cooperative is now hiring a Full-Time Line Superintendent for our Hayward office. JREC is a member-owned electric cooperative that employs 24 people and serves 8,690 members in 6 counties.
The Line Superintendent is responsible for developing, directing, and coordinating a smoothly operating force of qualified personnel; directing activities required for construction and maintenance of the Cooperative’s distribution facilities; selecting and recommending the purchase of equipment to operate and maintain the lines, and maintaining the system’s lines to provide reliable, safe, and sustainable electricity to our members; ; supporting and promoting load management functions; and maintaining an harmonious relationship with members, employees, vendors, and the communities were serve.
This position reports directly to the Operations Manager. They are responsible for coordinating activities with the Operations Manager, Finance Manager, Member Services Staff, contractors, and consultants. The successful candidate must possess strong leadership skills, the willingness to learn new processes, good computer skills, the ability to drive a variety of motor vehicles, have good written and verbal skills, and be able to work well with a variety of people. This position requires a living radius of 18-miles of the Hayward office.
Minimum requirements include: High school diploma or GED and graduate of accredited technical power distribution program, Journey Line Worker certification, computer skills, supervisory skills, valid state of Wisconsin, Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL), and a good driving record.
This position requires knowledge of work procedures used in the repair and installation of overhead and underground electrical power lines; repair and maintenance procedures applicable to the lineman/electrical trade; fundamental principles of electricity; metering; staking and work orders; use of safety equipment and protective gear; applicable safety and code standards specific to the lineman/electrical trade; supervisory principles, methods, practices, and procedures; excavation and backfilling methods, practices, and procedures.
