The System Supervisor will be responsible for coordinating system operations for reliability and transmission activities for the Big Rivers transmission system. Perform duty of Operating Authority when providing switching instructions to field personnel to ensure proper isolation of lines and equipment. Coordinate the normal and emergency operations of the Big Rivers system to achieve and maintain interconnected operating reliability and exercise authority and responsibility for the Big Rivers transmission system in such a manner that complies with all applicable Midcontinent ISO (MISO), North American Reliability Council (NERC) and Regional Entity Reliability Standards. Will be required to work a 12-hour rotating shift and be available for emergency call-in.
An electrical engineering, electrical engineering technology, associated technical field degree/certification, or relevant previous experience required for this position. Applicant must possess a demonstrated ability to absorb information, apply technical skills in practical applications, and achieve desired results in a highly technical operating environment. Display excellent skills to communicate verbally in a clear, concise manner and be able to discern and/or observe signals and alarms and the ability to distinguish colors. Be proficient in Microsoft Office products and otherwise possess personal computer skills. The position requires an initial training period as an Associate System Supervisor that may last 6 to 12 months depending upon the qualification of the applicant. Passing the NERC System Operator Certification exam is required to advance to System Supervisor.
