Sulphur Springs Valley Electric Cooperative, Inc. (SSVEC) is seeking an experienced General Counsel to join our senior leadership team! SSVEC General Counsel will be responsible for assisting the Chief Executive Officer and leadership with legal, regulatory, and contractual issues.

Essential Duties Responsibilities include:

• Actively supports SSVECs Mission, Vision, Values, and Strategic Goals.
• Provide legal updates as appropriate.
• Supports the CEO and SVP Operations in negotiating power supply, transmission, and other resource contracts for the Cooperative.
• Provides legal services and counsel in assigned areas including, but not limited to, regulatory matters, property rights and use, contracts, drafting, negotiation, human resources, dispute, litigation management, and corporate Governance.
• Ensures the cooperative has up to date procedures and policies, and coordinates with SSVEC leadership team to keep them updated and maintained.
• Represents the cooperative at meetings and events with various groups to include the Arizona Corporate Commission.

We are seeking candidates with the following:

• An active license to practice law in Arizona and a member in good standing of the State Board of Arizona.
• Five years of successful legal practice.
• Understanding the electric utility industry is highly preferred.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
