Our Communications Plant Technicians take pride in their work, pay close attention to detail, and are thoughtful, highly motivated problem solvers who are driven to improve the member/customer experience. This role will play a crucial part in our mission to connect our rural communities to high-speed, fiber-to-the home internet.
In this role, you’ll be trained to function in a technician capacity, working primarily in the field to assist, maintain, and install aerial, underground, and buried fiber-optic facilities. This role will also be responsible for completing residential fiber installations, including inspection and testing; responding to and troubleshooting service delivery and emergency issues; working with members/customers/landowners to investigate and resolve inquiries and/or complaints involving fiber plant; providing back up for the Communications Plant Technician I role; assisting in maintaining accurate files on inventory, jobs, complaints, correspondence, and phone calls; and working with engineering & mapping (GIS) on network quality and accuracy.

Education and Experience Required:
High school diploma or equivalent. Two-year technical school degree with one year of fiber construction and maintenance planning deployment preferred.
Ability to acquire an understanding of the cooperative's mapping systems.
Ability to read blueprints/engineering prints and splice documents.
Valid driver's license.
Capable of making full use of available tools, equipment, and technologies.
Effective communication, organization, planning, and leadership skills
Accuracy, self-motivation, and emotional intelligence.
Aptitude to fulfill all the competencies for the position (Equipment Operations / Fiber/Telecommunications Installation/Set-Up / Job Knowledge / Service Delivery / Standards & Practice / Technical Competence / Technical Credibility / Telecommunications / Troubleshooting & Outage Restoration / Working with Basic Hand, Power Tools, & Technology).

This role may be based out of either the Mount Gilead or Delaware, OH offices and will be subject to on-call duty, requiring a residence within a distance that permits arrival at the reporting station within 30-minutes under normal conditions within 90 days of hire, unless otherwise approved.
