The position of Broadband Installation Technician is one of high responsibility for reliable, economical customer service and satisfaction. The Broadband Installation Technician must have a working knowledge of all aspects of fiber installation, fiber optic electronics and customer home installation procedures. A Broadband Installation Technician works closely with other members of the installation team in completing broadband and fiber installations at residences and businesses, as needed.
Essential Functions of the Position:
Position involves a combination of indoor and outdoor activities. Outdoor activities include exposure to various weather conditions including heat, high humidity, cold, wind, fog, rain, lightning, hail, sleet, snow, and ice for extended periods of Work frequently includes working in attic or crawl space and in inclement weather.

Responsible for and assists in performing the installation of customer equipment and providing setup advice, when necessary, to meet the goals of a specific project.
Responsible for and assists in performing the installation of phones and phone systems on/in customer premises.
Responsible for and assists in patching-in all fiber optic panels or cables in accordance with work orders or splice diagrams.
Responsible for and assists in performing troubleshooting protocols for all BEC Plant and customer premise electronics.
Installs fiber optic cable, hand holes and other related tasks, when necessary.
Responsible for and assists in the installation and certification of all customer premise data lines that involves ladders, crawl spaces, attics, and other assigned heights.
Responsible for maintaining a record of inventory for each customer.
Is responsible for the accounting of materials used for a job.
Educates customers on how to operate the equipment installed after setup and installation to ensure long-term success with service.
Familiar with all fiber optic splice and test equipment.
Responsible for the housekeeping of assigned company vehicles, loading and unloading of materials and properly reports any mechanical failure to Broadband Installation Foreman or designee.
Familiar with all troubleshooting procedures and equipment used in those processes including but not limited to OTDR, Light Source and Power Meter.
Responsible for and assists in performing termination and troubleshooting of Ethernet cables.

Prepares cost estimates, contracts, designs, easements, for acquirement of material, staking of line, staking sheets, and other documentation, as
Operates all coop equipment in accordance with BEC policies and procedures, safety rules, manufacturer guidelines, and regulations and/or codes and seeks input from the IT Supervisor when information is unclear, inadequate or requires
