Central Electric Power Cooperative is currently accepting applications for the position of Journeyman or Apprentice Relay Technician. Individuals interested in this position should have a minimum of an Associates Degree in Industrial Electricity, Electronics or related technology degree. This position will require the individual to perform a wide range of duties to include but not limited to the following:
Perform installation, commissioning and maintenance of protective relaying equipment in high voltage substations and power plants.
Commissioning, maintaining, testing, or repairing circuit breakers, transformers, or other substation equipment
Perform functional testing of substation control circuits on relay panel, transformers & circuit breakers
Perform end-to-end line relay testing
Test relays to verify settings and logic equations are in accordance with design
Troubleshooting of electrical related issues, including root cause analysis
Modifying existing and installation of new AC/DC circuits in substations
Knowledge of electrical systems, microprocessors and PLC’s and experience in the use of computers to assist with troubleshooting and testing is beneficial. Must be able to obtain and maintain a class A commercial driver’s license. This position will require work in inclement weather conditions, during outages and in emergency response situations.
