A. Operates independently to perform the following duties in the warehouse:
Determines and maintains most economical and adequate levels of materials and equipment to assure an uninterrupted flow of materials for daily work by cooperative employees, outside contractors, and for use in emergency situations.
Maintains records to assure proper purchasing procedures.
Receives material deliveries and places items into designated storage areas.
Charges out materials for all work orders.
Checks job tickets for completeness and accuracy.
Receives and sorts of material returned by crews. Separates, cleans, and places salvageable items into properly designated areas.
Ensures materials are stored for easy accessibility and that the work area is clean and safe, eliminating hazards as appropriate.
Label transformers, regulators, breakers, and other special equipment in accordance with established procedures and maintain appropriate records.
Accepts material deliveries with unloading manually and by using forklift.
Responsible for conducting an accurate physical inventory for each quarter and end of the year.
Maintains material records.
Assumes responsibility for scheduling maintenance, repairs, and cleaning of vehicles and equipment assigned to warehouse functions.
May provide ground support for line personnel during emergency situations. Delivers material to job sites as needed.
Provide back-up for other warehouses if needed.
Insures that the warehouse and yard are kept orderly and clean.
Acquires knowledge of and assures compliance with all rules and regulations pertaining to handling and disposal of hazardous materials and acts as a P.C.B. Spill Coordinator as needed.
B. Perform the following maintenance activities:
Insures that facilities, inside and outside, are maintained in an acceptable manner.
Performing routine maintenance tasks, such as warehouse cleaning, minor office cleaning, painting, and minor repairs.
Check lighting in the office building and replace bulbs and tubes when necessary.
Replace filters on heating & cooling unit as required.
Operates and maintains the lawn sprinkler system.
Water, fertilize, cut and trim grass, trees, and shrubs as necessary.
Maintain flowerbeds and landscaping.
Oversees that weeds are sprayed and controlled.
Inspects, assesses, resolves or makes recommendations in all areas of facility and grounds maintenance safety and reports unsafe conditions to supervisor.
Performs preventative and repair maintenance to buildings and grounds.
Removes snow from entrance doors and applies salt as needed. Removes snow from parking lot.
Runs errands and gets mail as needed.
Performs preventative and repair maintenance on lawn mowers, weed eaters and others lawn care equipment.
Performs other duties as may be requested or directed by supervisors.
Responsible for the care and maintenance of American flags including raising and lowering when needed.
Responsible to make sure building generator is operating properly and scheduled maintenance performed by outside vendor.
C. Performs the following activities common to all operations employees:
Sees that trucks, tools, and equipment assigned are in good working order.
Participates in Job Safety and Training.
Complies with West River’s safety rules and regulations, operates all transportation equipment in a safe manner and looks out for the safety of others.
Keeps informed about the cooperative and its policies, plans and programs.
Exercises reasonable care in the use of and security of all cooperative-owned property.
Keeps supervisor informed of all activities.
Answers all member inquiries promptly or refers them to proper authority within the cooperative.
Makes every effort at all times to be courteous to the members and to do all possible to develop their support for the cooperative.
Cooperates with all employees in maintaining good working relationships and high morale. Exchanges ideas, information and job experience that will benefit the organization and assure continued efficiency within the cooperative
Attends and is active in Employee and Safety meetings.
Maintains discretion and confidentiality of business practices.
Will work with Rapid City Utility Maintenance Custodian to make sure of efficient operations are maintained for all offices.
Performs other duties as requested or directed by supervisors.
Must be able to perform all activities listed in position description. This includes:
Must possess the ability to clearly and concisely communicate, verbally and in writing, in exchanging information with position’s supervisor, employees and the general public.
Must be able to safely operate both riding and walk behind lawn mowers, weed-eater, hedge trimmer, cleaning equipment, power hand tools, bobcat, and snow removal equipment.
Capable of receiving training and certification for the operation of a fork lift.
Must be able to do repair to office equipment, heating and cooling systems, plumbing and minor electrical equipment.
Must be able to acquire and maintain a general knowledge of the security system as to troubleshoot and repair minor issues if needed.
Must be able to communicate clearly and accurately for work and safety compliance.
Must be able to effectively read and follow operations and safety manuals.
Must possess a valid South Dakota driver’s license and have an insurable driving record. Prefer a South Dakota Class A CDL be obtained within a year of employment.
Must possess computer, mobile tablet skills, and have an operating knowledge of WREA’s software used in the operations department to efficiently enter data required for time sheets, material inventory and other documentation.
Should be able to plan day-to-day maintenance activities as well as demonstrate initiative and motivation to organize and complete tasks, acting independently and with minimum supervision and direction.
Must be capable of learning the bar-coding system used by WREA.
