A Journeyman Lineman shall have the training, knowledge, and experience to work safely with no supervision on de-energized and energized electrical apparatus.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
Shall meet all the requirements of Apprentices 1, 2, 3, & 4.
Shall have the training knowledge and experience to work safely with no supervision on de-energized and energized electrical apparatus.
Shall assist in assembling material for work assignments; operates and uses transportation equipment, heavy work equipment, and tools; and participates in planning work procedures.
Shall understand staking sheets and engineering
Shall perform other lineman and incidental work assignments as directed and required; and is subject to a 24-hour emergency call-out.
Shall be responsible for the proper use of and keep in good condition all equipment, tools and machinery assigned for job performance.
Shall attend and participate in all safety
Shall abide by all manufacturer standards and safety rules in the use of
Shall properly use and keep in good condition all vehicles and equipment assigned for job performance.
Recommend improvements that can be made in practices, methods, and procedures within the area of this job responsibility.

Qualifications
Valid CDL Class A Driver's License required to operate type of equipment
Ability to communicate effectively with supervisor, other supervisors, other employees, and customers in a polite and professional manner.
Possess knowledge of RUS construction specifications and units and the ability to apply them without supervision. Ability to make all types of service connections, including all transformer banks, regulators, OCR's and auto
Ability to operate all types of sub-station equipment including reclosing devices, transmission, and distribution switches
Ability to possess knowledge of Cooperative service area, location of power lines, and ability to find customer location, with proper map numbers and general directions given over two-way radio. Ability to set up and work from digger and bucket trucks without supervision.
Ability to install, operate, maintain, and replace electrical apparatus on all circuits as both de-energized and energized without supervision.
Ability to perform hotline work on all construction without
Ability to understand and interpret Cooperative policies, procedures, and programs to effectively carry out job duties.
Ability to lead and direct all crew activities in the absence of the crew leader in compliance with OSHA and company policies.
Ability to work with crew foreman and other line crew members in carrying out assigned responsibilities and duties relating to construction and service
Ability to work with system dispatcher in service restoration activities and in receiving and converting outage restoration information during call-out emergency situations as required.
Ability to work with district service and construction personnel in service and construction activities as required.
Ability to work with all personnel on various construction and service
Ability to work with the general public in carrying out assigned

Physical Demands
Work position is generally varied. Must be able to exert in excess of 100 pounds of force occasionally, in excess of 50 pounds of force frequently, and in excess of 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Must be able to ascend and descend electric poles frequently, using feet, legs, hands, and arms. Ability to maintain body equilibrium to prevent falling when climbing. Ability to bend body downward and forward frequently, by bending spine at the waist. Ability to bend both legs at the knee, coming to rest on the knee. Ability to frequently bend the body downward by bending legs and spine. Ability to stand for sustained periods of time or walk long distances. Ability to use upper extremities to press against objects with steady force to thrust forward, downward, or outward. Use upper extremities to exert force in order to draw, drag or tug objects in a sustained motion. Work is performed outside and in all types of weather.
