Pea River Electric Cooperative has an immediate opening for an Apprentice/Third Class Line Technician position. This is an entry level, full -time, non-exempt position that enables an employee with limited experience in powerline work to gain the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities to become a Journey/First Class Line Technician. Apprentice Line Technicians are expected to learn the Line Technician job through on-the-job training as well as through classroom-type training provided by the Cooperative and must demonstrate competencies through assessment and/or job evaluation to progress to more advanced Line Technician classifications.
Requirements:
High School Diploma or equivalent
Must have successfully completed a Pre-apprentice Electrical Line worker certification course or have equivalent job experience as a Line Technician
Must be able to travel for training purposes, meetings, or to aid other electric cooperatives, as required
Must pass a pre-employment physical and drug screen.
Must be able to work overtime, nights, and weekends as needed as well as eventually take on-call duties
Must possess a valid driver’s license and be eligible to obtain a CDL license as well as be insurable on Cooperative insurance
Must be trainable in the application of CPR, First Aid, and Pole Top Rescue
Must live within close proximity of service territory or move within service territory within first 6 months
