Tri-County Electric Cooperative (TCE), Saint Matthews, SC seeks a qualified, engagedprofessional to become the next Vice President of Finance/CFO due to an upcoming vacancy. TCE has retained NRECA Executive Search to facilitate the search process.
About Tri-County Electric Cooperative
TCE is a member-owned, progressive cooperative serving 18,500 electric consumer-members in six counites from 3 offices. Located in central SC between Columbia and Charleston, TCE is preparing for growth with new planned subdivisions and commercial establishments.
Incorporated in 2020, TCE’s subsidiary – TriCoLink - serves about 6500 fiber customers over a fiber-to-the-home network available to all members. With expansion to neighboring underserved areas, TriCoLink is expecting continued rapid growth over the next few years as new residences and businesses expand in the area.
TCE/TriCoLink employs 68 professionals with annual electric revenue of $50 million, fiber revenue of $4 million with total utility plant of $155 million.
Essential Job Functions
Under direct direction of the CEO, the VP of Finance/CFO is responsible for planning, developing and administering the activities of the Finance department for TCE and TriCoLink. Duties include maintaining financial records, accounting services, budgeting, financial planning, regulatory reporting, cash management, inventory control, forecasting and billing functions.
Assists the CEO with strategic and tactical planning and in evaluating, formulating and implementing programs, policies and methods to promote and facilitate the effective and efficient operations of the Cooperative toward achieving its mission and goals.
This position directs Accountants I and II, Billing Clerk(s) and TriCoLink Controller.

Experience & Expertise
Bachelor’s Degree in finance/accounting is required. MBA or similar advanced degree and/or CPA certification are desired.
Thorough familiarity with financial management, outside auditor support, strategic planning, competitive assessment, cash management, budgeting and financial accounting software is required.
At least five years’ experience as a financial/accountant professional, preferably with an electric cooperative or CPA firm with utility focus, is preferred.
At least five years’ experience supervising or leading a department or group is preferred. Experience as a senior staff member or CFO is desirable.
Broadband/Fiber experience is desired.
RUS accounting experience, familiarity with CFC and CoBank is a plus.

TCE’s main office is located in Saint Matthews, SC. Saint Matthews, with a population of 2,000, is in central South Carolina about 25 minutes southeast of Columbia and about 45 minutes northwest of the Charleston suburb of Summerville.
