Position Summary
This position is responsible for managing accounting, financial reporting, analysis and compliance with regulatory agencies in support of the Cooperative’s strategic initiatives.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Maintain accurate and complete books and records for the Cooperative
Manage the internal controls design of processes and procedures that provide for appropriate separation of duties and checks and balances
Develop methods and procedures to enhance effectiveness, efficiency and accuracy of financial data
Ensure an accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and yearly end closing process
Ensure the accurate and consistent assignment of the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) codes and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
Research and monitor accounting guidance and prepare technical position papers to support conclusions reached in accordance with GAAP and FERC, including approach to implementation of accounting pronouncements for the Cooperative
Prepare and review required annual filings
Partner with the Financial Planning & Analysis Department to prepare and review monthly reports to Board of Directors
Work with cross-functional teams to support completion of cost of service studies, depreciation studies, transmission cost of service studies, and ratings review
Execute Capital Credits in compliance with GAAP and Cooperative policies
Collaborate with external auditors to complete audits
Support the reporting needs of the Cooperative
Lead and manage internal initiatives of the Finance department
Maintain the security of confidential information
Demonstrate regular and prompt attendance

Knowledge of using computer systems, which may include setting up and using hardware and software programs, entering data, processing information, or Microsoft Applications such as Excel

Substantial knowledge in Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) Accounting, financial statements, and policies of the Cooperative
Strong knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer service
Highly skilled in anticipating, identifying, analyzing, and resolving conflict and problems
Highly skilled in time management and managing changing priorities
Advanced level of verbal and written communication skills and providing updates to Management
