Responsible for meeting plant performance objectives by analyzing, planning, directing, developing and implementing the plant expense and capital projects and providing engineering support to all departments.
Essential Functions
Supervises and provides work direction for SGS Engineers
Assess and make recommendations regarding issues which may impact plant availability, fuel efficiency, safety, environmental compliance and cost effectiveness.
Perform detailed project planning forecast for up to five years with generalized planning for ten years
Review expense and capital budget proposals submitted by the plant engineering staff and ensures projects are within the plant budgets.
Develops projects and prepares analyses of evaluated options for implementation.
Manages expense and capital project implementation, cash flow forecast and progress updates.
Distributes work assignments among the plant engineers based on experience and workloads.
Directs and reviews performance testing and monitoring programs for condition assessment of equipment.
Reviews test results and recommendations of engineers to determine the actions needed.
Reviews plant issues requiring analyses by engineers for root cause, options and solutions including modifications to operation or maintenance procedures.
Report monthly on assigned management objectives for the engineering group.
Reviews all plant engineering group documents
Directs, recommends and coordinates plant design modifications
Take a proactive approach regarding personal safety, safety of others and comply with all OSHA and SECI safety rules. Must complete all necessary online or classroom safety courses as directed. Must participate in safety briefings and meetings.
Take a proactive approach regarding environmental rules and regulations governing the operation of the plant. Must complete all necessary online or classroom environmental courses as directed. Required to immediately report any, and all, environmental reportable incidents
Performs other duties as applicable to the position or as assigned.
Qualifications and Education Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or applicable equivalent training required. Ten (10) years of experience in modern power plant operations, maintenance and project development and implementation. Progressive responsibility, which should include at least two (2) years of supervisory experience of engineering level personnel. Professional Engineer certification preferred.

Physical Requirements
Must be able to work and access all locations of the plant and grounds. Must be able to climb stairs, ladders and scaffolds. Must be able to follow established protective measures including, wearing required personal protective equipment (PPE). Must possess a valid driver’s license and acceptable Motor Vehicle Report.
Working Conditions
Required to respond to calls and work extended hours when needed. Some travel and work outside of normal business hours. While working in certain areas of the plant, there is the potential for exposure to hazards typical of an industrial working environment, including extreme temperatures and conditions.
