Valley Electric Association, Inc. (VEA) has an immediate opening for a GIS Administrator to work in our headquarters located in Pahrump, Nevada.
The GIS Administrator will maintain and update VEA’s Geographic Information System (GIS), maps, including graphic representation of the distribution and transmission circuits, and the communications network.
Education: Two-year degree in Geographical Information Systems, or similar field of study.
Experience: Previous experience in electric utilities with experience using an ESRI based GIS, and NISC’s iVUE. Alternative equivalencies to this experience and education may be considered appropriate and acceptable at the discretion of VEA.
Knowledge: Knowledge or the willingness to learn the basics of GIS utilization and application as well as understanding of standard database management is required.
Abilities and Skills: Position requires good oral and written communications skills. Must be able to organize work to meet deadlines. Must have the ability to work independently and perform the activities necessary to complete work assignments described in the position description. Work requires attention to detail and the completion of reports and maps, which require a high degree of accuracy and detail.
