This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced electrical engineer looking to increase their responsibilities at a growing cooperative with many exciting challenges.
This a hands-on, electrical engineering position with direct supervision of one employee. Other duties:
Engineering manager plans, design, inspect, and develop activities and programs that impact the safety and reliability of the Cooperative’s distribution system.
The position develops the Construction Work Plan and Long-Range Load Forecast.
Provides support to the CEO, Operations, and Line crews
Supports and models teamwork and dedication to the cooperative.
Ability to communicate effectively and clearly to a wide range of audiences with the outcome of clear understanding with the use of respect and compassion toward those you are influencing.
Performs system design for new loads, system upgrades, load balancing and other essential engineering functions.
Directs the work of the Distributed Generation Technician
Coordinates all facets of the cooperative’s substation maintenance program.
Works with Operation Managers on annual construction work plan and maintenance activities.
Assist the management team on economic development opportunities.
Oversees the operation, maintenance, and analytics of cooperative’s dual-fuel generator.
Works with consultants retained by the Cooperative to conduct studies and facility designs.
Recommends and implements new or improved engineering standards, practices or methods.
Working with CEO, Operations, and IT, to research and evaluate emerging technology for potential implementation.
Responsible for working with other utilities on joint pole attachment issues and approving joint pole attachment applications.
Assists in the development of distribution switching orders and facilitates their implementation.
Interviews members, contractors, and others both in the office and the field for new facilities requested or alterations to existing plant.
Attends meetings and seminars to facilitate training, keep informed and stay abreast with current industry trends. This may require occasional travel from the area.
Performs other duties and special assignments as required.
This position will have an office at the cooperative's headquarters in Janesville, WI and at the cooperative's district office at South Beloit, IL. Rock Energy Cooperative is a growing cooperative with 20,000 electric meters and 10,000 natural gas meters. Located with between Chicago and Madison, Rock Energy has experienced substantial grow in the C&I loads. In the last few years, the co-op has an Amazon Distribution Center and many other significant loads.
Education and training: Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering required; State of Wisconsin and/or Illinois licensed Professional Engineer required.
Five (5) years as an electrical engineer with a distribution utility design experience using National Electric Safety Code design criteria.
Demonstrated leadership; excellent verbal and written communication skills; proven analytical, spreadsheet, and word processing skills.
Working experience of RUS specifications, NESC, and OSHA Rules and Regulations.
