Our team in Springfield, MO, is seeking a highly motivated Safety and Health Specialist to join and help us maintain the highest standards of safety and health in the workplace. What would you do?
- Conduct regular inspections and audits to identify potential hazards and recommend correction actions
- Develop, implement, and maintain safety policies and procedures
- Develop and deliver safety training programs for employees
- Ensure compliance with all relevant safety regulations and standards
- Investigate accidents and incidents to determine the root cause and develop strategies to prevent reoccurrence
- Work with leadership and employees to identify and manage safety risks
What are we looking for?
- Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety and Health or related field, or equivalent work or military experience
- At least 3 years of experience in safety and health, preferably in a utilities or industrial environment
- Knowledge of OSHA, NIOSH and NFPA regulations and standards
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Ability to travel to our power plant locations approximately 25-30% of the time
