Golden Valley Electric Association (GVEA) is looking to hire a full-time Manager of Engineering Services as part of the Engineering Team located in Fairbanks, AK. GVEA is an electric cooperative which maintains 3,261 miles of transmission and distribution lines, 35 substations, and 9 generating facilities. Our system is interconnected with Fort Wainwright, Eielson AFB, Fort Greely, the University of Alaska-Fairbanks, and all of the electric utilities in the Alaska Railbelt, extending from Homer to Fairbanks. As part of a team, the Manager of Engineering Services supervises and performs complex professional engineering design, planning and inspection work accommodating system growth and reliability as defined by Association and performance metrics used by the Association and the industry, including the RUS. They promote a "Safety First" culture. The Manager act's as a project manager on multiple complex projects including the continuous supervision of several subordinate positions. They may have complete responsibility for design, scheduling, cost, quality, and timely completion of major projects with only occasional review. Some of their tasks include performing complex engineering analysis, design, research, and inspection work.

QUALIFICATIONS FOR A MANAGER OF ENGINEERING SERVICES
BSEE degree with Power Engineering emphasis is required.
Master's degree in management preferred.
Valid Alaska driver's license.
Registration as a professional engineer in the State of Alaska is required.
First aid certification.
Over ten years engineering experience at a comparable level with at least two years in power utility engineering.
Demonstrated supervisory experience.
Demonstrated project management experience.
Experience with Integrated Resource Planning techniques for electric power utilities.
Experience in the design and construction of substations using RUS design and contracting procedures.
Familiarity with RUS construction standards preferred.
Familiarity with RUS system planning processes and RUS financing preferred.
Experience applying industry standard analytical tools (e.g. PSS/E, Aspen 1-liner, Milsoft EA, SEL Synchrowave, SEL acSELerator) to support operations, upgrades, and expansion planning.
Familiarity with the Alaska Railbelt electric system preferred.
Experience using performance management techniques.

WORK SCHEDULE This position typically works 8 hours per day, 5 days per week. Additional hours as required. On-call as needed after hours.
