Manages the operations of the cooperative including, but not limited to directing, administering and coordinating power supply, construction, personnel, maintenance, service, engineering, member services, community relations, finance, and accounting.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Determines and recommends wholesale power supply options to the Board needed to meet the future energy needs of Upson EMC.
Recommends retail rate schedules to the Board.
Plans, develops, and establishes policies and objectives of organization in accordance with board directives and cooperative objectives.
Confers with Board to plan business objectives, develop organizational policies, coordinate functions and operations between departments, and establishes responsibilities and procedures for attaining objectives.
Reviews activity reports and financial statements to determine progress and status in attaining objectives and revises objectives and plans in accordance with current conditions.
Directs, monitors and coordinates formulation of financial programs to provide funding for new or continuing operations.
Plans and develops industrial, labor, and public relations policies designed to enhance relations with customers, employees, and the public. Ensures cooperative is adequately and competently staffed to meet cooperative objectives.
Develops and recommends a systematic wage and salary program to the Board of Directors.
Directs the planning, development, and preparation of the annual operational and capital budgets. Reviews, approves, and submits, with appropriate recommendations, the final overall budget to the Board of Directors for their consideration and appropriate action.
Directs the planning of long-range programs, including capital expenditures and corporate and distribution operational cost estimates.
Is aware of and complies with corporate policy, Affirmative Action, Equal Employment Opportunity, and non-discrimination of customers on any benefits offered by Upson EMC.
Oversees compliance with all safety rules and regulations.
Supervisory Responsibilities
Manages and supervises the Line Superintendent, Office Manager, Executive Assistant and other personnel as appropriate, maintaining responsibility for the overall direction, coordination and execution of the policies, purpose and goals of Upson EMC.
Ensures that appropriate employees are hired, trained, and retained.

Experience
Experience in the electric utility business, with prior electrical cooperative experience preferred.
Language Skills
Promptly respond to customer inquiries and informational needs. Accurately and thoroughly communicate the policies, rates and programs of the corporation.
Mathematical Skills
Ability to work with mathematical concepts and fundamentals and the ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
Reasoning Ability
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
Valid Georgia driver’s license.
Other Skills and Abilities
Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills. Excellent computer skills required.

Headquartered in Thomaston, GA, Upson Electric Membership Corporation(EMC) serves approximately 7,200 member-owners and 9,500 electric services in west central Georgia.
