This full-time position will troubleshoot, repair, and maintain Kodiak Electric Association's electrical equipment and instrumentation associated with the Power Generation Department of Kodiak Electric Association (KEA), including GE 1.5 MW wind turbines, Battery energy storage system (BESS), Flywheel energy storage system (FESS), and diesel electric generators, and will perform general power plant and facility maintenance.
KEA is a progressive and innovative stand-alone generation, transmission, and distribution electric cooperative located on spectacular Kodiak Island in the Gulf of Alaska, 252 air miles southwest of Anchorage, serving approximately 6,000 meters with 388 miles of line. The cooperative is recognized as an industry leader in implementing sustainable, renewable energy solutions with environmental stewardship, and in 2022, our renewable portfolio of hydro and wind generated 99.8% of our power. KEA operates and maintains one hydroelectric plant, one wind farm, a Battery energy storage system (BESS), a Flywheel energy storage system (FESS), two diesel generator power plants, one combined cycle plant, six substations and 388 miles of distribution lines.

An appropriate vocational degree, Electrical Certificate of Fitness, or certified OEM Trained is required.(Note: Applications and resumes need to include degree, fitness card or OEM certification.) Experience in Power Plant Maintenance is desired. Must have knowledge of electrical maintenance and operation of diesel engines, hydroelectric turbines, and generators. Must have full knowledge of lockout/tagout procedures, dispatch switching order procedures, log maintenance programs, air systems, water systems, fuel and oil systems, hydraulics systems and tools.

As of April 1, 2023, KEA had 35 employees working in three divisions of the Cooperative, all under the direction of the President/CEO. The President/CEO, in turn, is responsible to a nine person Board of Directors. Cooperative members elect directors to staggered three-year terms. An appointed U.S.C.G. Liaison also serves on the Board to promote open communications between the KEA Board of Directors... and the U.S.C.G.
