United Cooperative Services has an open position for Vice President - Power Supply.

This position is responsible for managing the Cooperative’s power supply portfolio, including the development and assessment of power supply strategy and plans, evaluation, oversight, administration, and execution of power supply contracts. The Vice President - Power Supply monitors the ERCOT power market, making recommendations, and securing affordable and reliable sources of power for the Cooperative.
As a member of the executive staff, this position is active in addressing ongoing challenges and identifying new internal and external factors that affect the members, company and employees.
In a constructive manner, the Vice President - Power Supply assists the CEO and executive staff with clarification of the company vision(s) needed to meet a multitude of objectives and overcome challenges.
This position, in a supportive manner, will assist in communicating and implementing the visions and values to the Cooperative’s members and employees across all departments.
REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS
Reports to: Assistant General Manager/COO
Supervises: Power Supply Personnel
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
Develop and manage United’s power supply portfolio to ensure United has access to cost-effective and reliable wholesale power.
Manage the evaluation and execution of wholesale power purchases and purchases of physical energy products to maintain a balanced, economical energy portfolio.
Manage the administration of Request for Proposals for the procurement of energy supply products.
Managing consultants for the purpose of power supply
Establish key performance indicators and monitor various reports and reporting programs.
Oversees the development of innovative rate structures and power supply options to support various membership needs/requests.
Assist United’s Commercial and Industrial accounts in the evaluation and implementation of distributed energy resources.
Assist in the evaluation and development of United tariff rates.
Establish schedules, procedures, and processes to manage a power supply portfolio.
Assess and manage risk associated with power supply.
Evaluate and monitor regulatory trends that could impact wholesale power market.
Serves as the main ERCOT contact person for the Cooperative’s interaction with the ERCOT market and shall work with all departments to ensure United is in compliance with all regulatory requirements needed to participate in the ERCOT market.
Provide Executive staff reports and updates on power supply and associated market factors.
Oversees Renewable Energy Credit Program.
Manage United’s Community Solar program.
Oversees United’s demand side management efforts.
Stay abreast of new and emerging technologies that could affect United.
Adheres to and encourages current safety policies and procedures and is actively involved in continuously assessing safety policies to ensure their content and/or effectiveness are consistently the top priority at the cooperative.
Administers “Proactive Performance Coaching” principals in accordance with daily supervisory duties.
As a member of the supervisory/management team, this position is responsible for the provision of a full range of supervisory activities, including, but not limited, to the selection, training and evaluation of section personnel, planning and the completion of special projects as delegated.
Develop and implement: education, tools and training with clear expectations to employees in order to meet departmental and cooperative goals including but not limited to the following:
Maintain familiarity with and be able to effectively communicate United, industry, and regulatory information including but limited to: communications such as the employee newsletter, supervisors’ meetings and employee meetings, and information form appropriate internal and external web sites.
Prepare (potentially deliver) presentations to employees or other groups as necessary.

Manage relationship with energy managers, energy suppliers and other organizations needed to support UCS’s energy supply needs.
Establish relationship with ERCOT representatives.
Establish and build relationships with other market participants.
Establish relationship with technology vendors.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Job Knowledge, Training and Experience: A Bachelor’s degree in engineering, business or related field and/or at least 10 years of related experience and/or training is preferred; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience must include wholesale and customized power purchase negotiations, as well as departmental oversight.
Equipment Operated: Must have a current Texas driver’s license without violations that would prohibit insurability.
Abilities and Skills: Must be able to effectively present information, orally and written, and respond to questions from manager groups, boards, clients, customers, and general public. Must be proficient with job-related software and computer applications to consistently perform duties or requirements of the position. Must be able to give, receive and analyze information, prepare written materials, and articulate goals and action plans. Must be able to deal with a variety of people in varying situations with tact and diplomacy.

Working Conditions: Requires working both inside and outside the office with some irregular working hours. Some travel is required inside and outside the cooperative service area.
