Summary
This position is in our legal division and supports environmental staff in compiling, analyzing and reporting data associated with air compliance. Supports efforts on environmental management systems, compliance audits and records management. Great River Energy is looking for a qualified team-oriented Environmental Technician with strong organization skills and excellent communication skills to be a part of our environmental team. Qualified candidates will have a demonstrated ability to work as a solid contributor in a team environment.
Great River Energy is currently looking an environmental technician. Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Provides regulatory and technical guidance to plant personnel for air compliance associated with continuous emissions monitors (CEMS) operation and data generation.
Participates in compliance and Environmental Management System audits at Minnesota and North Dakota Great River Energy facilities.
Extreme attention to detail and quality assurance is a requirement for this position; must possess the ability to proof work to detect minute data changes and differences.
Ability to understand and maintain current knowledge of air compliance as one complex and multi-faceted environmental media with a desire to understand more environmental media (water, waste, etc.) as a developmental opportunity.
An inquisitive ability to assess permit conditions and regulatory compliance determinations. Ability to coordinate with environmental services staff on communications with regulatory agencies as appropriate.
A typical starting range for this position is $31.00 to $36.00/hour. Education & Experience
A minimum of an Associates degree in environmental sciences or related field with 1-3 years’ experience. Experience with environmental compliance. Field experience in air compliance. Air stack testing experience preferred. A bachelor’s degree preferred in environmental sciences or related field. Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Office software, particularly Excel, is required. Demonstrated ability to handle data with an extreme attention to detail, combined with an overall inquisitive desire to understand complex regulations and to improve GRE’s compliance systems.
Working Conditions
While performing the duties of this job, employees are regularly required to sit for extended periods of time, walk and stand; talk both in person and by telephone; use hands and fingers to handle, feel or operate standard office equipment; reach with hands and arms; and lift up to 25 pounds. Vision abilities include close and distant focus. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet to moderate. May on occasion be exposed to loud sounds and distracting noise levels. Subject to occasional vibration and hazards and on occasion exposed to fumes, dust or mist. Must wear protective equipment when required. Drive GRE vehicles to other sites.
