Position: System Engineer – Full-Time Position
Jasper-Newton Electric Cooperative, Inc. is seeking qualified applicants for the position of
System Engineer.
Job Description
• To act as a resource person for the Director of Engineering and Planning, Director of Construction, Director of Maintenance, Assistant General Manager – Operations, and/or General Manager on system design and/or service problems. To recommend changes in design and standards to the Director of Engineering and Planning.
• To aid in developing and coordinating design specifications and standards for engineering, operations, maintenance, and construction for system transmission, substations, distribution, and consumer service lines.
• Studies and reviews engineering developments in engineering of new construction, maintenance, system service, and specialized consumer service. Interprets system engineering needs and makes recommendations to the Director of Engineering and Planning in order to keep the system adequate for long-range development.
• Makes power requirement forecasts and/or updates previous forecasts as requested.
• Reviews meter reading books and cycles and makes changes to equalize workload.
• Provides information for and works with consulting engineers on the future design of the electric system to ensure adequate service.
• Checks and recommends approval on wholesale power bills.
• Reviews and provides information to accurately bill large power consumers.
• Aids in the maintenance and operations of the computer network.

Qualifications and Expectations
• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with a major in Electrical Engineering is required.
• Specialized electric utility system design, operation, and evaluation training are preferred.
• Ability to work independently and in team settings.
• Possess the necessary personal characteristics that make an employee a productive team member, including high integrity, good personal habits, and regular attendance at work.
• Must have a valid driver’s license.
• Willing to relocate to the JNEC service area.
