Job Summary:
We are looking for an experienced Staking Technician to work at our headquarter office in the City of Socorro, located in the middle Rio Grande Valley of beautiful Central New Mexico. The weather is almost perfect year-round. This position performs various staking tasks, including but not limited to designing construction and retirement of the co-op's electric distribution system. The employee is regularly required to stand, walk or sit.
Job Responsibilities
Responsible for single and three-phase designs of overhead and underground electric distribution systems for commercial and residential areas.
Good understanding of electric distribution systems.
Experience with Microsoft Office and Futura System software.
Ability to read, interpret and understand construction specifications, easements, and legal descriptions.
Research and obtain easements, rights-of-way, and statements of authority as required.

Job Requirements
Must be a self-motivated individual with a high level of accuracy and the ability to analyze details.
The ability to work independently and with other Departments of the cooperative.
Responsible for project management duties to ensure timely and accurate preparation of designs, staking sheets, and cost estimates.
Candidates must have the ability to interpret a variety of technical instruction in mathematical or diagram form and deal with abstract and concrete variables.
Three years of field experience designing and staking single and three-phase distribution systems with an electric utility is preferred.
Ability to react to change productively and to handle a high workload.
Ability to use an electronic digital transit, a measuring wheel, range finder, and Trimble R2.
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, and strong math skills.
High school graduate or equivalent. Associates degree in related field preferred.
Must have a valid driver’s license.
