Golden Valley Electric Association (GVEA) is looking for an energetic individual as our CAD/GIS Supervisor as part of the Engineering Team located in Fairbanks, Alaska. This full-time position earns a competitive starting wage of $92,256.00 Annually. A day in the life of an CAD/GIS Supervisor can look like:
Be a leader, provide direction and support to the CAD/GIS Technicians and CAD Intern positions. Bring new ideas, improvements, and direction to steer the future to GVEA's GIS and CAD systems. Develop and enhance the GIS base map of GVEA's transmission and distribution system. Sharpen your critical thinking skills by examining electronic schematics and supporting documents received from design engineering staff to develop, compute and verify specifications, drafting data, dimensions and tolerances.
Eligibility
BS degree in computer science, engineering, geography, or surveying with a minor in CAD and/or GIS. Ten years of relevant work experience may be substituted in lieu of a BS degree.
Valid driver's license.
Three years' experience in a successful leadership or supervisory role, demonstrating strong organizational and leadership skills.
Experience with NISC Spatial, SQL Spatial Data, and/or ESRI ArcGIS.
Experience working with GIS and understanding the relationship of geographic spatial data and the underlying tabular information.
Experience with land-base digital cartographic information, including an understanding of mapping coordinate systems and georeferenced raster imagery.
Experience managing and manipulating large databases.
