Delta Electric Power Association is looking for a self-motivated Chief Engineer focused on maintaining and improving Delta Electric’s over six thousand miles of distribution systems including an on going Fiber To The Home project for all Delta EPA consumers and service territory. The Chief Engineer must have interpersonal skills to manage employees and relationships with contractors while getting the work completed in an effective and efficient manner. Our team of engineers currently leverage multiple technologies to manage our networks and are constantly looking for new and innovative ways to better serve our members.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities include:

This position reports directly to the General Manager and is responsible for all outside operations:

• Oversee System Engineers in developing Construction Work Plans and Long-Range Plans.
• Oversee Design of the Distribution network including any and all Electrical Engineering software including:
  • Survalent SCADA
  • Milsoft
  • GIS, FuturaGIS, CresentLink
  • Other
• Oversee District Managers in relation to
  • Construction Practices
  • Service Maintenance
  • General Operations
  • Work Order Processes
• Oversee Purchasing Agent and Warehouse for reliable inventory.
• Perform rate studies.
• Ability to communicate both written and verbally with employees, members, state and local officials, and contractors thoroughly and accurately.
• Oversees the GIS Specialist to maintain an accurate and current geographical of map of the electrical and fiber networks.

Work Environment:

Work will be primarily at the headquarters office in Greenwood with periodic field work for observation and inspection. He/She must also be available for major system outages including weekends and holidays if necessary.

Physical Effort and Dexterity:

Frequent physical activity includes sitting at a desk for prolonged periods of time, standing, walking, stooping, bending, lifting, and carrying materials under fifteen pounds.

Required Skills/Abilities:

• Must be able to communicate thoroughly and accurately.
• Computer application skills, Microsoft suite.
• Problem solving abilities.
• Must have ability to use electrical engineering modeling software.

Education/Experience

Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering with professional engineering license. Five years of progressive work experience in Electrical Distribution field is preferred.
