Under the supervision of the Manager of IT and Broadband Services, The Broadband Technician is responsible for the installation and maintenance of customer services at the home/business.
Primary Duties
Responsible for installation, termination, and testing of cat-5/6 and coaxial cables and fiber optic cable.
Responsible for routing fiber and/or cables from the outside to the inside of a home/business.
Supports/Troubleshoots the customers’ internet and telephone technologies.
Responds to internet and telephone trouble tickets.
Uses interpersonal skills for interaction with customers for installation requirements and issue resolution.
Provides oversight and performs quality control of the work performed by the internal drop contractors. Confers with and assists contractors as needed.
Installs routers and telephones in homes and businesses and integrates them into existing systems.
Works with electronic maps and documents and maintains records of the work performed.
Trains customers on the use of the internet, telephone, and/or television.
Works with Member Services on subscriber and landowner issues to ensure contractors are performing work on schedule and all issues assigned to have a resolution.
Provides updates on all installations performed to GIS Mapping Technician to maintain the integrity of our electronic mapping system.
Ensures operations comply with applicable federal, state, and local regulations.
General Duties:
Establishes and maintains an effective professional working relationship with co-workers and all necessary levels of management.
Maintains a professional image and standards of professional conduct at all times while working in the public, representing the Cooperative, and/or conducting business on behalf of the Cooperative.
Plans, schedules, and coordinates tasks, events, and activities with the Manager of IT & Broadband Services to assure that all work is completed within the necessary allocated time.
Scans, indexes, and files all required records in a manner by which they can be easily retrieved upon request by management.
Makes his/herself available to answer phone calls, and provide general assistance during power outages.
Maintains a safe working environment.
Protects and maintains member confidence by safeguarding member and employee information.
Provides service to members and fellow employees by answering questions, offering assistance, and performing other duties as assigned.
Must be experienced with Cat 5/6 and Fiber Optic Cable. Experienced with home networking equipment. Must have strong PC abilities including MS Office, tablet operating skills, and electronic maps. Must be able to route lines to required specifications and convey these specifications to installation contractors.
High School Diploma or equivalent required. Some college or post-high education is preferred.
