The Board of Directors of Stanton County Public Power District (SCPPD) in Stanton, NE seeks a utility leader with strong interpersonal communications skills to become their next General Manager/CEO. The current GM/CEO has indicated his intent to resign and will be leaving October 1, 2023. BWJ Law Group will assist the Board of Directors in the search process.
The GM/CEO reports directly to the six-person Board and is responsible for the administration and execution of all District activities in accordance with approved policies, budgets and programs. The GM/CEO develops strategies and operational policies to achieve established objectives, generates and maintains a strong team environment through professional development and example, and consults with and advises the Board on all matters pertaining to finances, operations, public relations, human relations and planning.

The successful candidate will have high integrity, encourage teamwork, and inspire others, while providing innovative, visionary, and strategic leadership to the District. The successful candidate will also have an extensive electric utility background possess strong leadership skills and the ability to build relationships and establish trust with the Board, team members, customers, public officials, the community, and associated consultants and organizations.
Leadership Competencies
Ability to carry out the vision set forth by the Board and build a culture of teamwork throughout the company.
Solid financial understanding of Public Power districts including interpretation of financial metrics, key financial opportunities, risk management and budgeting.
Ability to build on a culture of safety.
Desire to capitalize on economic development opportunities that benefit the customers of the District and fit within the strategic direction of the Board.

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree is preferred; any additional education will be recognized by the Board including advanced degree, NRECA MIP program, etc.
At least 7 years of electric utility experience is required, and 5 years of management experience is preferred.
An understanding of the Public Power model and rural Nebraska is preferred.
Stanton County PPD is a public power district serving in Stanton and parts of Madison, Wayne, Cumming, and Colfax counties of Northeast Nebraska. The service territory includes the communities of Stanton and Pilger. The customer base includes a blend of residential, commercial, and industrial accounts with over 60% of its electric load from industrial customers.
The District has 15 dedicated, full-time employees serving approximately 2,700 meters over 750 miles of distribution line via 9 substations. Over 60% of the electric load is from industrial customers. The District has annual revenue of approximately $13 million with a total utility plant valued at over $28 million. Stanton County PPD receives its wholesale power via an all-requirements contract with the Nebraska G&T Cooperative through generation sources from the Nebraska Public Power District.
