Oversees and directs engineering, pre-construction and construction planning for large and complex utility infrastructure improvement projects. The Project Manager communicates and coordinates activities directly with internal and external stakeholders, developers, consultants, and contractors concerning project layout, cost, design standards, easements/right-of-way, utility coordination, and scheduling. The Project Manager provides technical guidance and direction on all assigned projects to ensure timely and cost-effective delivery of construction work plan designated system improvements.
Relies on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. The Engineering Project Manager Senior must perform a variety of tasks. Leads and directs the work of others. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected.
Primary Position Responsibilities
Lead and manage large-scale and complex utility infrastructure improvement projects, adhering to CoServ's design and construction standards and specifications, and ensuring compliance with contract specifications.
Establish and maintain positive relationships with corporate-level stakeholders, developers, consultants, and contractors, to promote and sell CoServ's concepts, standards, and services.
Provide technical guidance, assistance, and standards to internal and external contacts regarding electric and gas service installation, design, and cost estimates, for large residential, commercial, and industrial developments.
Manage and coordinate project movement among various internal and external contacts to ensure timely and cost-effective project completion.
Assess internal and external contacts' preferences while directing designs and cost estimates that are acceptable and consistent with CoServ's design and construction standards and specifications, and assist developers in making informed decisions.
Develop, maintain, and update designs and cost estimates for large infrastructure improvement projects.
Resolve conflicts professionally and consistently, ensuring a win-win final resolution.
Prepare accurate and descriptive electrical and gas designs and layouts, material sheets, construction plans, cost estimates, and maps, using a high level of knowledge and recognition of electrical and gas equipment and devices used within CoServ's electrical and gas distribution system.
Design large conductor, multi-circuit overhead and underground electric lines that are of high design difficulty and complexity.
Manage engagements with engineering consultants on assigned task requests by providing feedback on design and constructability to ensure time and budget constraints are met as defined.
Exercise a high degree of creativity and latitude to plan and accomplish goals, relying on extensive experience and judgment.
Complies with established CoServ safety and operating rules, procedures and guidelines including reporting unsafe practices to a supervisor.
Complies with established CoServ Information Security Handbook, policies, procedures, and guidelines including reporting suspected information security incidents to Tech Support.
Education and Certifications Required
High School Diploma or G.E.D equivalency.
Bachelor’s degree in Project Management, Business Management, Engineering, OR a related field and five (5) years of high-level utility construction and/or engineering experience within the industry; or, eight (8) years of high-level utility construction and/or engineering experience within the industry; and, has demonstrated the ability to perform the job duties of an Engineering Project Manager.
Education and Certifications Preferred
Bachelor’s degree in Project Management, Business Management, Engineering, or related field and six (6) years of high-level utility construction and/or engineering experience within the industry; or ten (10) years of high-level utility construction and/or engineering experience within the industry, and has demonstrated the ability to perform the job duties of an Engineering Project Manager.
PMP Certification.
Hi-line Staking Certification.
Willingness to obtain certification/training in opening energized equipment for engineering purposes.
Experience Required
Eight (8) years of high-level experience in electric utility industry and has demonstrated the ability to perform the job duties of an Engineering Project Manager.
Five (5) years of working as an Engineering Project Manager.
Experience Preferred
Ten (10) years of engineering experience in electric utility industry, business development, project management, and economic development.
Ten (10) years in the electrical distribution engineering field.

Knowledgeable in utility design standards for overhead and underground construction specifications.
Working knowledge of utility infrastructure and operation of distribution systems.
Excellent written and verbal human relations and communication skills.
Organizational skills and the ability to multi-task.
Understanding of National Fuel Gas Code, National Electric Safety Code (NESC), National Electric Code (NEC), and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) training.
Skills in developing and delivering oral and written presentations.
Ability to work under strict deadlines and has a high level of problem-solving skills.
Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks.
