The Association of Missouri Electric Cooperatives (AMEC) is seeking an enthusiastic employee who will be responsible for the planning and coordination of AMEC’s internal and external communications efforts for the greatest benefit to the statewide association and its members. This will be done through social media, videography, photography, digital and print outlets. This position will report to the Editor of Rural Missouri.
Applicants should have passion for furthering the interests of and improving life for citizens and businesses in rural Missouri.
The Essentials
Develops and implements social media strategy to drive engagement, monitor social exchanges, and create and post on social media channels.
Provides communications services for electric co-op member systems, including writing, photography, video, social media posts, news releases and other projects.
Plans, shoots and produces video features that correspond with Rural Missouri magazine and rural electric cooperatives.
Produces a monthly “What’s Happening at AMEC” video of events held at AMEC.
Creates monthly print and online content for Rural Missouri.
Oversees the look and content on RuralMissouri.coop and AMEC.org.
Analyze performance data of all digital efforts and share results with the team.
Promote the use of video and digital services to member cooperatives, which could include training videos, presentations for Annual Meetings, etc.
Stays up to date with latest digital trends and technologies to ensure all digital channels provide a modern user experience.
Job Knowledge, Abilities and Skills:
Experience in creating content for a variety of digital platforms.
Developed skills in video production, photography, writing and social media.
Experience developing strategies for digital platforms that enhance user engagement.
Experience managing social media platforms and engaging users.
Firm grasp of current and emerging digital trends.
Strategic and creative thinker with an attention to detail.
Ability to examine communications objectives and develop strategies to achieve them.
Ability to work in a team environment on a wide variety of projects on tight deadlines.
Effective communication skills in working with internal and external customers.
Technologically inclined, including learning new tools quickly and training others.
Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in journalism, photography, videography web design, marketing, communications, or related field preferred.
Three years of experience in communications or journalism preferred.

This position is in Jefferson City and will require some travel throughout the state of Missouri, with an occasional out-of-state event.
