Owen Electric Cooperative is a distribution cooperative seeking an individual to serve as Vice President of Corporate Services. Headquartered in Owenton, the heart of Kentucky’s “Golden Triangle”, the co-op’s headquarters is less than an hour drive from Lexington, Louisville and Cincinnati. Three district offices in Butler, Dry Ridge and Florence, Kentucky allow the cooperative to be more present in the communities that we serve. Covering parts of nine counties, our service territory is beautiful and diverse. Rolling hills and farms dominate the more rural parts of our southern district while thriving businesses and suburban developments continue to spread across our northern district. POSITION SUMMARY The VP of Corporate Services is responsible for directing all safety, accounting and human resource functions of the organization in accordance with the policies and procedures of Owen Electric Cooperative, Inc., the ethical and social consciences of business and society, and the laws, regulations and administrative rulings of governmental organizations and other regulatory and advisory authorities and organizations. This position is also responsible for the strategic planning of safety, accounting and human resources to promote a culture of safety, financial integrity and workforce excellence.
REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS ? Reports to: President/CEO
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES ? Serves as a productive member of the President/CEO’s Executive Team that makes strategic decisions for the direction of the cooperative. ? Plans, directs, manages and provides leadership of all accounting, safety, and human resource activities. ? Responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of all cooperative accounting and human resource information. ? Develops, recommends and implements accounting, safety & human resource strategic goals. ? Creates a culture of continuous organizational, employee, and safety improvement. ? Monitors and ensures compliance with all relevant federal, state and local laws and regulations. ? Ensures the preparation and submission of reports required by the Internal Revenue Service, Public Service Commission, Rural Utilities Service, Kentucky Revenue Cabinet, Cooperative Finance Corporation and other entities are completed on a timely basis. ? Audits selected general ledger accounts, financial statements and statistical reports for accuracy and balancing. ? Prepares the financial forecast at least on an annual basis and in conjunction with loan applications. ? Assists department heads in developing their annual work plans and capital and expense budgets and, after approval by the President/CEO, combines these into a cooperative-wide annual work plan and budget. ? Determines specifications for property, casualty, and liability insurance. Solicits bids, evaluates proposals and makes recommendation to President/CEO for placement of coverage. ? Periodically compares and analyzes actual operating results to budget and prepares report of same for review by staff, President/CEO and Board of Directors. ? Reviews the annual financial audit and annual 401K audit and implements any necessary corrective action. ? Coordinates internal audits with internal auditor and reports findings to Audit Committee. ? Approves purchase requisitions for the department consistent with approved procedures. ? Manages the study, research, and benchmarking to gather data to ensure Owen's wages, benefits, policies and working conditions are competitive. ? Consults with President/CEO on matters relating to strategy development & execution, safety, personnel hiring & development, labor relations, benefits, and compensation administration. ? Prepares the Wage/Salary budgets and, after approval by the President/CEO, combines these into a cooperative-wide operating budget to present to Board of Directors. ? Advises and consults with management and employees on compensation, benefits and labor relations issues. ? Develops, recommends and ensures policy compliance pertaining to all employee activities. ? Insures all regulatory guidelines are followed that pertain to issues with the HR function. ? Advises management on how to handle personnel problems and HR related issues. ? Provides employee direction and understanding of policies, practices, and procedures pertaining to employee activities. ? Represents Owen in various meetings, conferences and seminars.
JOB SPECIFICATIONS Education: ? Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required ? CPA or MBA preferred ? SHRM certification preferred
Experience: Ten (10) years of related experience. Must have at least five (5) years of supervisory experience in a related area.
