We are currently seeking candidates to fill the position of Network Engineer in the Engineering Department. This position will report directly to the Manager of Information and Operations Technology.
Position Summary:
Manage all aspects of network solution implementation to improve confidentiality, integrity, and availability of Central’s interconnected networks, systems, real-time load data, and telemetry.
Provide uninterrupted, reliable, and secure data communications by monitoring and maintaining Central Electric’s networks to include all internal and remotely connected network equipment inside and outside the cooperative.
Install, configure, and support all Central Electric owned network equipment which includes firewalls, routers, switches, OT devices, etc.
Core Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Designs, procures, configures, implements, and manages highly available site to site connections (VPN, SDWAN, etc.) in coordination with the WAN and Systems Administrators between Central Electric and its members and stakeholders.
Manage and maintain internal network switch stacks, routers, firewalls, ACLs, VLANs, and configuration.
Document and manage schematics and records of network designs, layouts, and disaster recovery scenarios and plans for managed networks.
Monitor performance and security of connected networks.
Ancillary Duties and Responsibilities
Assist WAN and Systems Administrators in the documentation, inventory, tracking, and maintenance of network equipment configuration and records.
Assist WAN and Systems Administrators in cell-based load control switch installation in coordination with Member Cooperatives.
Perform other incidental and related duties as required and assigned.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Strong organization, project management, multi-tasking, and documentation skills are required.
Strong communications skills and the ability to work on a team is required.
Strong knowledge and training in networked systems and segmentation, monitoring and performance trending, configuring firewalls, switches, routers, ACLs, and VLANs in Cisco and SonicWALL products.
Experience and expertise in the following protocols & technologies: TCP/IP, VLANs, BGP, ACACS/RADIUS, MFA integration, IPSEC, VPNs, SDWAN, NetFlow, SNMP, Syslog, and DNS.
Must be proficient with Microsoft Office products.
Essential to be able stand, walk, and bend while working in substations and datacenters.
Physical demands include climbing, standing, walking, bending in awkward positions and lifting up to 75 pounds of equipment.
Education and Work Experience:
CISCO Certified Network Associate (CCNA) certification is required.
Associate or bachelor's degree in computer network systems, security, or engineering is required.
5-10+ years prior experience in advanced networking, security, and firewall design configuration, monitoring, documentation, and support is required.
SonicWALL experience is desired.
CISCO Certified Network Professional (CCNP) certification is desired.
Security certifications such as CCNA Security, CEH, CISSP, and Security+ are desired.
Cyber security audit and remediation experience is a plus.
Cloud networking experience is a plus.
