Owen Electric Cooperative is a distribution cooperative seeking an individual to serve as a Field Service Representative. Headquartered in Owenton, the heart of Kentucky’s “Golden Triangle”, the co-op’s headquarters is less than an hour drive from Lexington, Louisville and Cincinnati. Three district offices in Butler, Dry Ridge and Florence, Kentucky allow the cooperative to be more present in the communities that we serve. Covering parts of nine counties, our service territory is beautiful and diverse. The Field Service Representative is responsible for duties associated with the connection and disconnection of services within the time frame requested by member-owners and in compliance with cooperative rules and regulations. This position assists the Cooperative in the reduction of financial losses due to non-payment by performing field collection activities on delinquent member accounts and retrieving prompt meter readings as requested. This position assists the Cooperative in providing reliable electric service to member-owners at the lowest possible cost consistent with sound business practices. The Field Service Representative promotes the safest possible working conditions through strict adherence to established safety rules and practices.
Education:
A high school diploma or equivalent is required. Completion of Apprentice Lineman Training preferred.
Experience:
Prior utility work experience or training preferred. Experience or training in customer service preferred.
Job Knowledge:
Must be knowledgeable with all material items, equipment and tools used to disconnect and reconnect members’ accounts. Must know and understand safety rules and first aid. Must be knowledgeable of cooperative procedures and RUS specifications. Must have a good understanding of basic electric circuits including transformers and metering equipment. Shall be thoroughly familiar with cooperative policies, rules, regulations and procedures concerning disconnects, reconnects and meter readings. Must be familiar with NESC, PSC, OSHA and NEC regulations. Must be able to accurately account for and handle member payments in the field and in conjunction with office personnel.
Abilities and Skills:
Must be able to work safely on low voltage energized equipment without direct supervision. Must be able to effectively communicate and establish proper relationships with members. Must be able to be bonded for the purposes of handling monies. Shall pass a physical examination by a competent physician. Must possess and maintain a valid Kentucky driver’s license.
Working Conditions:
Majority of work is performed outside. May be required to work in all kinds of weather conditions.
