Yampa Valley Electric Association is a cooperative located in Northwest Colorado. We have two locations: one in Steamboat Springs and one in Craig. Today, the Association serves nearly 26,300 meters over 2,840 miles of line. The association's service territory extends east to the continental divide, south to almost I-70, north into Wyoming about 10 miles, and west to within 25 miles of the Utah border. The 7,000 square mile service territory includes the communities of Baggs and Savery, Wyoming; Craig, Hayden, Steamboat Springs, and Yampa, Colorado; and surrounds, but does not include the town of Oak Creek, Colorado. The Association is run by a Board of Directors. The member/owners elect nine individuals from the general membership to represent them as Board of Directors. Three Directors are elected each year on a rotating basis. Yampa Valley Electric owns no generation facilities. It purchases power from the Western Area Power Administration (a federal power marketing agency) and Xcel Energy. YVEA is located in beautiful Steamboat Springs, Colorado. Steamboat and the surrounding area is home to practically every type of outdoor recreation one can imagine depending on the season. Y...ou can plan to ski and snowboard, snowmobile, snowshoe, and take a few hunting trips in the cooler months. The warmer months brings the ability to road bike, mountain bike, fly-fish, hike, hunt, and camp all without traveling far from your door. It truly is a recreational paradise- and we get to live here!
