How can you benefit EnergyUnited? In this role you will:
Plan, as far ahead as possible, work to be done in such areas as staking, securing right-of-way easements, and relations with other utilities, government agencies, and departments.
Be responsible for seeing that the designs are completed in such a manner as to provide a proper balance between safe and reliable service and economical cost of construction.
Assist in the design, coordination, and construction of projects and to assist in the preparation of engineering and operations documents.
Prepare cost estimates for line construction and relocations.
Be responsible for procuring encroachments/permits required for the district construction program.
Receive and field check joint use requests of Cooperative facilities by other utilities. Report attachments not in compliance with specifications to the Region Line Manager.
Receive/Review requests for removal of joint use facilities and determine if valid.
Submit requests to other utilities for joint use of their facilities. Check construction for compliance with contract agreements.
Design and assist in the coordination of small system improvement jobs.
Coordinate staking line relocations with State, Federal, and County Highway Engineers. Prepare plans and estimates for billing purposes in accordance with DOT specifications.
Design and coordinate the construction of small single-phase subdivisions, developments.
Stake, coordinate, and assist in the closing of work plan construction projects in the region.
Work with the Warehouse and contract construction crews to build and close out all work plan construction projects assigned for a time period.
To be Considered for the Position, you should have:
High school graduate or equivalent. An ASET (Associates of Science in Electric or Electronics Technology) or comparable degree from an accredited institution or field closely related to electricity, civil or electrical engineering, or drafting strongly preferred.
Three (3) to Ten (10) years related job experience.
Experience with a rural electric construction crew and/or position of distribution designer desired.
Electrical design experience overhead and underground and secondary/primary or a related field is desired and preferred.
Knowledge of aspects of electric power distribution line construction, overhead and underground, primary and secondary, and pertinent construction specifications to include RUS construction units and specifications preferred.
Knowledge of the National Electrical Safety Code.
Knowledge of electrical theory in order to properly size conductors and transformers preferred.
Knowledgeable of load analysis and load balancing for new load to ensure system balancing preferred.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to make sound decisions from observations and carry out instructions.
Proficient in MS Office Applications.
Possess and maintain a valid NC driver’s license with safe driving record.
A certified Notary Public in the state of North Carolina within one year of employment.
Must live within a twenty (20) mile radius of the respective assigned reporting office location.
