EMS Software and Control Systems engineer for Hoosier Energy’s Transmission systems specializing in OSI monarch software. Provides real-time support of the System Control Center, examines problems at hand with Hoosier Energy’s EMS Systems’ performance; identifies causes, and implements solutions. Supports developing and executing a Corporate Controls Strategy which ensures safe, cost effective and reliable operations while pursuing a coordinated platform for controls and data management. Continuously evaluates the EMS controls systems, identifies future needs, and ensures these needs are met. Ensures current technology does not reach obsolescence, recognizes areas where performance or reliability can be improved, and discovers new technology which can assist Hoosier Energy in better achieving its operating goals. Provides technical support and expertise for system controls, corporate, and member personnel. Ensures control system modifications and future projects complies with manufacturer recommendations, applicable codes/procedures (NERC, MISO, etc.) and considers the impact on legacy or other integrated control systems. Responsible for the implementing EMS controls system modifications, upgrades and management of system projects.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Works systematically and logically to resolve EMS performance problems at hand, identifies causes and anticipates implications. Makes decisions or takes action, after considering the available courses of action and the needs and values of others. Formulates orderly and systematic approaches to solving performance problems though out Hoosier Energy’s Transmission controls systems and implements solutions.
Examines problems at hand with Hoosier Energy’s EMS system. Developing, troubleshooting and maintaining the OSI monarch software including databases, graphics, logic, alarms and advanced applications. Formulates a systematic approach to solving problems and implements solutions.
Executes a Corporate Controls Strategy which ensures safe, cost effective and reliable operations while pursuing a coordinated platform for controls, data management and reporting.
Develops and regularly meets with the Controls Team and operations to identify, repair and improve upon potential Control System issues. Supports work activities the Controls Team services during projects, supports the team with advanced troubleshooting, and supports documenting and approving Control System changes (i.e. alarms, logic, tuning, graphics).
Ownership of the controls system EMS software (OSI monarch) - Production, Testing and simulation environments.
Maximizes the application and operation of Hoosier Energy’s control systems. Helps develop, implement and maintains a policy which protects the integrity of each of Hoosier Energy’s Control Systems. Complies with all NERC and Hoosier Energy operating policies and guidelines that pertain to the Control System.
Works with other team members to review, analyze, develop and implement new and emerging technologies across the G&T and cooperative members.
Performs other duties as assigned.
JOB SPECIFICATIONS
Education:
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or other technical discipline minimum
Experience:
Control System experience - OSI Monarch preferred or similar industrial controls experience
