The following levels are open for consideration: Engineer III, Senior Engineer and Principal Engineer. All skill levels are being considered and the person chosen for the position will be placed in the level in which they are experienced. Please see below for description of all levels.

Hybrid Remote Schedule
This role has the option to be a blend of remote and onsite work if department and business needs allow and with approval from direct supervision. Our hybrid remote work schedule combines three (3) days on premises with up to two (2) days remote.
Key Roles
Engineer III The position is responsible for providing support to EKPC management and Air Quality leadership in the following areas: CEMS data quality assurance, EPA reporting, permitting, environmental engineering project management, and implementation of new Kentucky Administrative or EPA regulations.
Senior Engineer The position is responsible for CEMS data quality assurance, EPA reporting, permitting, plant environmental engineering project support, and assessment of new regulations to develop compliance strategies.
ThePrincipal Engineerserves as a key technical contributor and advisor who consults with all EKPC business units as well as the member systems on engineering and other technical activities. Serves as a technical consultant who utilizes advanced expertise to assess and recommend best practices, process improvements, cost savings, and workplace safety improvements. The Principal Engineer has discipline specific expertise and utility industry experience necessary to evaluate project plans, anticipate potential problems, and provide solutions for the most complex projects. This position guides and mentors less experienced staff, and serves as an advisor to company leadership.
Key Responsibilities
Engineer III:
All Disciplines
Collaborates with staff, EKPC management, and legal counsel as needed to address environmental opportunities regarding compliance.
Assists in budget implementation, forecasts, and administration.
Maintains, writes, and revises environmental documents and procedures for generation and transmission facilities.
Air Quality
Supports and prioritizes with Air Quality Manager the programmatic work under Clean Air Act.
Supports, assists, compiles, reviews, and submits EPA data reports (ECMPS, EGGRT).
Supports Air Quality Manager on EPA Clean Air Markets Emission Division (CAMD) Trading Program including reviewing daily emissions trending, communicating with Power Production teams, and tracking developments in the market.
Supports, assists and advises EKPC management on environmental efforts to support EKPC OPPM capital and maintenance projects to provide, recommend, and obtain required air state and federal new source review permitting and new source performance standards applicability for EKPC projects.
Supports, assists, and tracks air permit modifications and renewal schedules for every operating site, and ensures permits are accurate and submitted timely.
Supports and assists plant environmental air quality operational and emission issues.
Supports and assists in engineering efforts with regard to air quality equipment specifications and equipment changeouts.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Senior Engineer:
All Disciplines
Leads effort to create scopes of work for new EPA policies or regulations to support environmental compliance and work activities in an effort to modify or update compliance plans with regards to local, state and federal regulations and standards, and EKPC standard operating procedures.
Analyzes scientific data and performs quality control checks.
Inspects EKPC facilities to ensure compliance with environmental regulations and reports findings to facility leaders and/or EKPC compliance leadership.
Advises leadership and executive staff on environmental regulations.
Leads, develops, and provides environmental engineering for planning, regulatory analysis, and recommending environmental and economic direction for compliance.
Collaborates with staff and experts in law and business to address environmental problems.
Prepares and designs engineering options (such as systems, processes, and equipment for control, management, and remediation of water, air, or soil quality) and provides engineering recommendation as a resolution to environmental concern, both from an environmental and economic perspective.
Develops, monitors, and leads continuous environmental improvement programs.
Assists in budget implementation, forecasts, and administration.
Coordinates and manages environmental protection programs and projects, assigning and evaluating work through use of the Environmental Management System and if needed, for projects greater than $1 million and up, the use of professional project management software.
Maintains, writes, and revises environmental documentation and procedures for generation and transmission facilities.
Develops written testimony and provides oral testimony in legal and regulatory settings as required. Requires mature engineering knowledge and judgment of sound engineering practices and standards.
Demonstrates strong technical expertise and awareness of job related field, and continues to remain current on the industry.
Performs all work in a safe and timely manner.
Air Quality
Leads and prioritizes programmatic work under Clean Air Act.
Compiles, reviews, and submits EPA data reports (ECMPS, EGGRT).
Manages Air Markets Emission Trading Program (CAMD) including reviewing daily emissions trending, communicating with Power Production teams, and tracking developments in the market.
Leads and advises EKPC management on environmental efforts to support EKPC OPPM capital and maintenance projects to provide, recommend, and obtain required air state and federal new source review permitting and new source performance standards applicability for EKPC projects.
Tracks permit modifications and renewal schedules for every site, and ensures permits are accurate and submitted timely.
Supports plant environmental operational and emission issues.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Principal Engineer:
All Disciplines
Provides expert advice and counsel by utilizing extensive and diversified knowledge of engineering design, principles, practices, and project management.
Suggests and implements innovative and cost-effective solutions to resolve complex, unique, hazardous, or critical problems.
Serves as project manager or the technical lead for complex and highly technical projects.
Provides opinions on issues related to corporate strategy and individual business unit initiatives.
Provides technical input and review of internal regulatory compliance documentation.
Provides technical commentary and input on pending legislation affecting electric utility operations in Kentucky.
Acts as technical expert, provides written testimony, and serves as a key witness in court of law hearings, KY Public Service Commission proceedings, and legislative sessions.
Develops, fosters, and maintains working relationships with manufacturers, vendors, and consulting firms.
Mentors project team members and junior staff.
Attends trade shows, conferences, workshops, seminars, user group meetings, and other educational opportunities on a routine basis.
Recommends and cost justifies engineering projects to improve operational efficiencies, mitigate reoccurring failures, improve system restoration time, increase equipment longevity, and reduce costs.
Accurately performs complete evaluations of engineering alternatives and the identification of the optimal solution for the electric power system.
Performs root-cause analysis and recommends approaches to mitigate future failures or improve processes.
Establishes, maintains, and improves relationships with internal customers and the member systems, including monitoring the relationships and initiating actions to improve relationships, as needed.
Leads or participates in Incident Investigations.
Performs other duties as assigned.

Key Requirements
Education - Engineer III:
Bachelor's degree (chemical, civil, or environmental) in Engineering from an ABET accredited program required. Based on EKPC's business needs, a specific discipline may be determined upon the posting of this position.
Education - Senior Engineer:
Bachelor's degree (chemical, civil, or environmental) in Engineering from an ABET accredited program required. Based upon EKPC's business needs, a specific discipline may be determined upon the posting of this position.
Registered Professional Engineering License in the Commonwealth of Kentucky preferred.
Education and Certifications / Licenses - Principal Engineer:
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from an ABET accredited program required. Based on business needs, a specific discipline may be determined.
Registered Professional Engineering license in the Commonwealth of Kentucky required. Twenty (20) years of verified progressive engineering experience may substitute in lieu of Professional Engineering license.
Experience Engineer III:A minimum of five (5) years of related experience.
Experience Senior Engineer:A minimum of seven (7) years of experience.
Experience Principal Engineer:
A minimum of sixteen (16) years of progressively responsible engineering work experience required.
Twenty (20) years of verified progressive engineering experience without a Professional Engineering license substitutes for 16 (sixteen) years of experience and a Professional Engineering license.
Without a Professional Engineer license, the Kentucky State Board of Licensure for Professional Engineers states a designation by EKPC as a Principal Engineer is not a licensed professional engineer as that term is defined in KRS 322.010.
Approval from the COO and CEO required.
