Western Illinois Electrical Coop. (WIEC) has an opening for a Groundworker. The individual hired should transition to the position of Apprentice Lineworker.
Applicants must provide proof of current Class A CDL. A Certificate of Achievement in Electrical Distribution Line Maintenance is desired. Specifically, the Climbing Certificate of Achievement is of particular importance to ensure the candidate is comfortable working at heights. This position participates in the after-hours/weekend on-call rotation which means the employee must reside no more than a 15-mile drive from 524 N Madison St., Carthage, Illinois. Qualified candidates should submit a cover letter and resume by November 15, 2023.
Western Illinois Electrical Coop. is a member-owned electrical cooperative based in Carthage, Illinois. Organized in 1938, WIEC was established to bring the convenience of electricity to the rural areas of Hancock, southern Henderson, and parts of Adams and McDonough Counties. We currently provide electricity to around 2700 members. Our objective is to provide electric energy to Members at the lowest possible cost consistent with sound economy and good management.
One of the founding principles of WIEC, as a cooperative, is that we are owned by those we serve. The members have a voice in who represents them. WIEC is governed by a seven-member Board of Directors, who are elected to staggered three-year terms each.
