Position Summary
This position is responsible for planning, directing and implementing a comprehensive safety program in support of the Cooperative’s strategic initiatives.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Develop, present and/or coordinate safety specific curriculum and training materials for all Cooperative locations such as CPR and defensive driving
Serve as a mentor to support and provide guidance for various levels of instruction
Perform field safety inspections to ensure compliance with company policies and procedures, state and federal safety and health standards and maintain appropriate records
Investigate and perform trend analysis of accidents, incidents and safety issues
Document safety violations, concerns and issues
Conduct accident investigations and analyses, in partnership with management
Recommend and verify implementation of correction action
Recommend safety improvement programs to management
Conduct, document and deliver safety assessments
Maintain appropriate attendance records
Serve as the safety subject matter expert in partnership with the management team
Research and communicate current safety trends
Represent the Cooperative at external professional venues and functions
Maintain the ability to demonstrate industry specific skills, i.e. climbing, pole top rescue, etc.
Maintain the security of confidential information
Stay abreast of advances in technology

Knowledge of using computer systems, which may include setting up and using hardware and software programs, entering data or processing information
Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer service
Knowledge of electrical theory and OSHA regulations, NESC, NFPA 70E
Skilled in time management

Ability to serve as a positive role model and mentor
Ability to effectively train others in classroom and field environment

Directly related experience may substitute for education
Five years of directly related safety training experience
Valid Driver’s License
Certified Utility Safety Professional (CUSP) certification required or obtain within two (2) years of hire
Certified Loss Control Professional (CLCP) certification preferred
Experience as Journey Worker preferred
Class A CDL preferred
